Thanks to the vics!!!!

Well, Whats Victorias loss is SA's gain.

This weekend finally saw a return of top level state racing to Mallala, with the first round of the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships.

And what a blast it was!!! I was present all weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it (flaggin at point 6).

I would personally like to thank all the Vics who came across to this first round. It has been years since we have had an entry like that and you guys certainly put on a good show (sorry that We took home most of the silver wear tho )

I also hope you guys enjoyed playing around under lights last night. Like always, twilight meetings always put on a good spectical. (oh, sorry about the dust storms this morning tho. Never before have I been on a flag point praying for rain!!)

Anyhow like I said, thanks and I hope you all come back!!

Wasn't this supposed to be a one day event? Noticed that the finals were all run this morning - nothing for the afternoon??

OK, the format was 1 practice/qualify saturday morning, 3 races saturday arvo, with the sedans running 1 race under lights, one race sunday, with a 12:30 finish so the Vics could make it home same day

Ahh OK - thought I had seen here before that it was a one dayer - day/night.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Very hospitable don't you think Race, thinking of the poor Vics having to go all that distance, so letting them go home early.

I would love too. I had been meaning to do it for years. My choice was Winton, as I have family at Benella (sp?), but the jury is still out on that one.

If I can organise a group of fellow SAMROAians you would accomadate us?

Awesome event. A little hot tho... mid 30's both days. Great to see a turnout of some 215 entries, apparently it is the biggest event ever run at Mallala. Thanks to all those involved in running it, fabulous event.

I was a little involved:

I have a big tyre mark up the back of my car and a hole in the engine cover but after seeing Tom Brand's U-Drive Van Diemen up close in the pits, and the fact that I lived on for the restart, I count myself very lucky.

I was only there on Sunday (as a spectator) and I have never seen the wheather that bad. It is always windy there but never like that!

There was some good racing, but why were all of the gates shut so the spectators couldn't even get around to the "far side" of the esses and around to the Northern Hairpin?

Interesting to see Steve Owen in one of the Borland cars there though.

And Eric Bana in a Porsche! Also Cams ceo (?) Rob Nethercoate in a Fvee.

And for the cartoon freaks, Stonie was there too.
