2011 Nascar Cup / Nationwide / Trucks schedule
The 2010 Nascar schedule was this:
February 6 - Daytona (Budweiser Shooout) February 14 - Daytona (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) February 21 - Fontana (Cup, Nationwide) February 28 - Las Vegas (Cup, Nationwide) March 7 - Atlanta (Cup, Trucks), (no Nationwide) March 14 - (no Cup, no Nationwide, no Trucks) March 21 - Bristol (Cup, Nationwide) March 28 - Martinsville (Cup, Trucks), (no Nationwide) April 3 - (no Cup), Nashville (Nationwide, Trucks) April 10 - Phoenix (Cup, Nationwide) April 18 - Texas (Cup, Nationwide) April 25 - Talladega (Cup, Nationwide) May 2 - Richmond (Cup, Nationwide), Kansas (Trucks) May 8 - Darlington (Cup, Nationwide) May 16 - Dover (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) May 22 - Charlotte (All-Star Race, Trucks), (no Nationwide) May 30 - Charlotte (Cup, Nationwide) June 6 - Pocono (Cup), Nashville (Nationwide), Texas (Trucks) June 13 - Michigan (Cup, Trucks), Kentucky (Nationwide) June 20 - Sonoma (Cup), Road America (Nationwide) June 27 - New Hampshire (Cup, Nationwide) July 3 - Daytona (Cup, Nationwide) July 10 - Chicago (Cup, Nationwide), Iowa (Trucks) July 17 - (no Cup), Gateway (Nationwide, Trucks) July 25 - Indianapolis (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) August 1 - Pocono (Cup, Trucks), Iowa (Nationwide) August 8 - Watkins Glen (Cup, Nationwide), Nashville (Trucks) August 15 - Michigan (Cup, Nationwide), Darlington (Trucks) August 21 - Bristol (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) August 29 - (no Cup), Montreal (Nationwide), Chicago (Trucks) September 5 - Atlanta (Cup, Nationwide), Kentucky (Trucks) September 11 - Richmond (Cup, Nationwide) September 19 - New Hampshire (Cup, Trucks), (no Nationwide) September 26 - Dover (Cup, Nationwide), Las Vegas (Trucks) October 3 - Kansas (Cup, Nationwide) October 10 - Fontana (Cup, Nationwide) October 16 - Charlotte (Cup, Nationwide) October 24 - Martinsville (Cup, Trucks), Gateway (Nationwide) October 31 - Talladega (Cup, Trucks), (no Nationwide) November 7 - Texas (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) November 14 - Phoenix (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) November 21 - Homestead (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) Pending changes for 2011: ISC: Kansas wants a second Cup race in spring (March to May). Tracks which seem in danger to lose one of their two races are Fontana, Phoenix and Martinsville. Any could lose their spring race for Kansas. Another option would be to drop the fall race, then Kansas would take Darlington's May date and Darlington's race would move back to fall. SMI: Kentucky wants a Cup date, which could be New Hampshire's June. Las Vegas wants a second Cup race, more precisely a Chase for the Cup race, but Atlanta isn't and the other races seem safe. Nnationwide and Trucks: What could happen with Milwaukee, Road America, Gateway, Nashville and Iowa? |

June 20 - Sonoma (Cup), Road America (Nationwide)...
I don't like this, would be good to have RA available to the Cup Regulars with road course experience (maybe so Ambrose has a chance to run and win - yes I am biased ) but also so that the wringers can do both RA and Sonoma, to give the Sonoma and RA races a bit more of a professional feel... AND GIVE THE CUP TEAMS GROOVED TYRES FOR ROAD COURSES!!!!!!!! |

Bring back the Rock and North Wilkesboro.
guess they have enough races in North Carolina . ATL and not Texas should have a Chase race. it's at least a "build up" race. Quote:
send the Cup series to Road America. at least Montreal is still on the calender and on a Cup off weekend. |

Two new facts by the Indy Star:
o- Since the Brickyard 400 has been losing fans, the new Cup race at Kentucky could "take that already-crowded situation and make it more crowded" (IMS CEO Jeff Belskus dixit). Brian France adds Michigan's two races to the situation. o- The Nationwide race at Indianapolis could move from the Raceway Park to the Speedway for 2011. Also having races at both places is being considered. |

Chicagoland rumored to be first race of the chase next year. Loudon fall race will move to be the second chase race.

Gateway won't be hosting Nationwide or Truck races in 2011. Dover Motorsports seems in deep trouble, having closed Memphis a short time ago.
Nashville Superspeedway plans two Nationwide and two Truck races as this year. They want them to be doubleheaders - April is done, and I guess that the June Nationwide race and August Truck race could move to July's open date from Gateway, which is a gap in Cup's schedule. |

Chicagoland will move to first Chase for the Cup date in late September, New Hampshire moves to second race, Fontana loses the Chase race. The open date in early July could go for Kentucky.
Now, where does Kansas fit? It seems that the IndyCar race at Texas will move to early May. So perhaps the Texas Cup race in late April will move to Atlanta's open gap in early March, and Kansas takes the open weekend. Also, Dover Motorsports seems to have asked for the Nationwide / Truck doubleheader at Nashville on June I mentioned above. So this is a tentative schedule: February 6 - Daytona (Budweiser Shooout) February 13 - Daytona (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) February 20 - Fontana (Cup, Nationwide) February 27 - Las Vegas (Cup, Nationwide) March 6 - Texas (Cup, Nationwide - from late April) March 13 - (no Cup, no Nationwide, no Trucks) March 20 - Bristol (Cup, Nationwide) March 27 - Martinsville (Cup, Trucks) April 3 - (no Cup), Nashville (Nationwide, Trucks) April 10 - Phoenix (Cup, Nationwide) April 17 - Kansas (Cup, Trucks - replacing Fontana) April 24 - Talladega (Cup, Nationwide) May 1 - Richmond (Cup, Nationwide) May 8 - Darlington (Cup, Nationwide), Texas (Trucks - from early June) May 15 - Dover (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) May 22 - Charlotte (All-Star Race, Trucks) May 29 - Charlotte (Cup, Nationwide) June 5 - Pocono (Cup) June 12 - Michigan (Cup, Trucks) June 19 - Sonoma (Cup), Road America (Nationwide) June 26 - New Hampshire (Cup, Nationwide) July 3 - Daytona (Cup, Nationwide) July 10 - Kentucky (Cup, Nationwide - replacing Atlanta), Iowa (Trucks) July 17 - (no Cup), Nashville (Nationwide, Trucks - from June, August) July 24 - Indianapolis (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) July 31 - Pocono (Cup, Trucks), Iowa (Nationwide) August 7 - Watkins Glen (Cup, Nationwide) August 14 - Michigan (Cup, Nationwide), Darlington (Trucks) August 21 - Bristol (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) August 28 - (no Cup), Montreal (Nationwide), Chicago (Trucks) September 4 - Atlanta (Cup, Nationwide), Kentucky (Trucks) September 11 - Richmond (Cup, Nationwide) September 18 - Chicago (Cup, Nationwide - from early July) September 25 - New Hampshire (Cup, Trucks) October 2 - Dover (Cup, Nationwide), Las Vegas (Trucks) October 9 - Kansas (Cup, Nationwide) October 16 - Charlotte (Cup, Nationwide) October 23 - Martinsville (Cup, Trucks) October 30 - Talladega (Cup, Trucks) November 6 - Texas (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) November 13 - Phoenix (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) November 20 - Homestead (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) Indy Raceway Park will keep the Nationwide race. Where will Gateway's lost races go? One could be Iowa, suposedly in May one week before the 600 at Charotte. The Speedway might get a Nationwide support race for the Brickyard 400, and the Nationwide race at the Raceway Park would change its date (September?), breaking a 29 year old tradition. |

what's the go with Road America going onto the NW series this year, was it a test to see how the cars/track would go with the intention of it getting a Cup race in the future if all went well? If so hopefully it will get a chase spot down the track, or take Sonoma/Watkins spot on the regular season so that Sonoma/Watkins goes into the Chase schedule. If they have 2 road track races in the regular season, makes sense to have one in the Chase
and i still don't like this: June 19 - Sonoma (Cup), Road America (Nationwide) Compare the professionalism of racing at WG in the NW compared to the RA race when most of the drivers were sun baking on the West Coast... |

I had the 2011 Dayton 500 date wrong. Easter weekend is on April 22-24, so the Nashville race will be held that weekend. Phoenix has been moved to February 27, and Fontana to March 25-27.
February 13 - Daytona (Budweiser Shooout) February 20 - Daytona (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) February 27 - Phoenix (Cup, Nationwide) March 6 - Las Vegas (Cup, Nationwide) March 13 - Texas? (Cup, Nationwide - from late April) March 20 - Bristol (Cup, Nationwide) March 27 - Fontana (Cup, Nationwide) April 10 - Martinsville (Cup, Trucks) April 17 - Kansas? (Cup, Trucks - replacing Fontana) April 24 - (no Cup), Nashville (Nationwide, Trucks) |

Me wrong with Kansas: the races will be on June 5 and October 9. So June races will be moved too.

April will probably look like this:
April 3 - Martinsville (Cup, Trucks) April 9 - Texas (Cup, Nationwide - from late April) April 17 - Talladega (Cup, Nationwide) April 24 - (no Cup), Nashville (Nationwide, Trucks) June 12 seems to be for Pocono. So where does the second Nashville go? And how does it fit with Montreal? I think so: June 5 - Pocono (Cup, Trucks) ... July 24 - (no Cup), Montreal (Nationwide) July 31 - Indianapolis (Cup, Nationwide, Trucks) August 7 - Pocono (Cup), Iowa (Nationwide) |

Nationwide races at Iowa have been confirmed on May 22 (same weekend as All-Star Race) and August 6 (same weekend as Pocono). That leaves Nashville for June 3-5, it seems.

Interesting Nationwide is in Chicago while Cup and Truck are in Kansas. Wonder what will partner that race? I also wonder if it's an attempt to limit Cup drivers in Nationwide by having more non-companions (although these tracks aren't far from each other, but if they are going to stop awarding points/use a Nationwide-only Chase, it may decrease the motivation to fly back and forth).
