Fingers crossed for them - any more big engine failures and/or back half of the grid qualifying would be very embarassing. With Williams on the back foot, there could be no better time to re-assert themselves.
DC needs a good car too, to save his career and get a good drive for next year. Reading between the lines it looks like Ron would have him stay as a tester, which is racing career over basically. |

It's definitely going to be interesting. Maybe the new chassis is going to allow them to run closer to the front because it's better handling, but if the engine/hydraulics/gearbox (please select Norbert's choice) gives way and dumps them back down the grid then it's going to be all the more painful for them.

The latest-spec engine has been reliable in testing, and even the current engine's been reliable in the last two races.

Hey - according to McLaren they haven't had loads of engine failures! A point they insisted so strenuously as to attempt to censor the TV commentators. What a bloody cheek to throw their weight around like that - it was plain for all to see what was happening, but the mangement at Mercedes and McLaren wouldn't have it discussed in public.

I think that came from Norbert Haug rather than McLaren, to be honest.

We can hope a good race in France, although it's only the chassis what's new. But in my opinion the cause of this many failures was that the radiator didn't worked shipshape. I think they will be able to be better than Renault and BAR this week.

Disagree, Tamas, the new car has exactly the same radiators as the old one.
The engine problems were more internal, apparently. Here's hoping McLaren get some great results. |

Pfff... Then I hope Mercedes managed to repair the engine. McLaren has a fast car in vain, if they can't finish races.

I think they've turned the corner with reliability.
