"Team Australia" Porsche 911 at Le Mans 2006
don't know if anyone already mentioned it but during the Gold Coast Champcar race, Craig Gore (WPS V8 Supercar, Team Australia Champcar, Atlantics, F BMW - and any others he can think of!) said they were going to enter Le Mans next year probably using drivers from within - Tagliani, Power, Craig Baird etc.
Gore would be a great asset to get "hooked" on Le Mans! |

That's an interesting idea and plan... but how exactly are they going to get to LeMans? A Porsche 911 isn't exactly a rare beast, and there are plenty of other entrants who are VERY competitive. Do they plan on racing in some series to prove their worth to the ACO? Which series is that to be?

Yes, I think he needs to realize that showing up with a budget and a good driver lineup isn't necessarily going to give him an automatic ACO thumbs-up. Hell, look at Freisinger being refused an entry a few years back despite their FIA-GT record at the time.
Alas, if he's pooling his talent from drivers primarily focused on other series, getting a car entered in more than a few ACO-sanctioned races without a dizzying array of seat-swapping will be difficult. I wish them all the best though! |

Is Team Australia managed by Larry Perkins . He entered a Porsche 956 for the 1984 or 1985 race with Brocky as the second driver .
Whatever happened to Skea Racing and Parr Motorsports ? Skea had talked about comeing back with a Panoz LMP1 years ago and then again with a Porsche 911 Gt3RS , but it didnt happen . We need a little interest from Australia ..... Good . |

Parr motorsports are still giong strong and have moved into large unit close to where I live, alas the Aussie interest in the team stopped after the one LM race I think.
As for getting an entry into next year. The southern hemisphere GT series's do deserve an entry in the same way as the US or europe. If the team competed and won it, then the ACO should look at them as a good prospect, other wise they will need to take there chances in the lottery, I guess they stand a better chance than some that have been (and some that some people always bang on about) invited of getting an entry, GT2 will be very crowded next year. |

Im sure they will get a Le Mans entry , being the only Australian entry and with the big name of Perkins too . It would surprise me if they didnt get one , but then again , the ACO never fail to surprise me !

Badger, Team Australia has nothing to do with Larry Perkins. I think that's the name the team used back in 84 with the Porsche. This team Australia is a seperate entity run by business man Craig Gore.

The Parr car may be old, but by the look of it, it has kept up to date with the Cup spec and perhaps more...

An 'old Porsche' has won the GT2 championship in the LMES for the last two years - preparation and the calibre of the driving squad it seems is rather a good leveller!

Dont know what happened to the cars, do you Nivola - I understand there is a transporter in Melbourne where the storage owed exceeds the value of the transporter. Cant see Rohan back soon. |
