Scott Russell to return in 2003?

I've been reading over at amasuperbike.com that Scott Russell, who announced his retirement at the start of this year after injuries suffered at the 2001 Daytona 200, has been testing a HMC Ducati and may make a racing return next year.

It is undecided yet whether it will be in the AMA Superbike Championship or the World Superbike Championship.

OT - it looks like Doug Chandler, after doing a superb job this season on the Ducati superbike, won't be racing in the superbike class next year but on a Honda in AMA Formula Xtreme and AMA Supersport.

surely there is a young american more deserving of this ride - give it up scott, you WERE great in YOUR day!

thats the best doug can hope for these days - seems the ama formula xtreme championship in 2003 will be more exciting than the superbikes......

Gomick, you gotta be kidding me, Gobert, Ben, Eric, Mladin, DuHamel, Yates, Hacking, Tommy Hayden, Kurtis Roberts and now Russell it beats the hell out of the WSBK field by a country mile. Chandler and Roger Lee Hayden et al in Supersport and Extreme it's a great field and if Russell can still cut it then why not, the fields in AMA are packed with young talent already. There are 40 + riders in the field in AMA Superbike alone so plenty of rides to go around, Scott Russell makes it all the more classy and after THAT crash fair play to him. All we need is Slighty back and that would make my day.

Scott Russell and Doug Chandler - if you can't beat these guys NOW you shouldn't be up after 9pm.

I mean, they make me feel old!
