Free Practice One is over and Tarquini wasn't wrong when he was quoted as saying " “Brno is a BMW circuit" in the article "SEAT aims to keep lead at Brno".
Four BMW's in the top five. Andy Priaulx's and Porteiro are first and second with respective times of 1:10.360 and 1:10.633. Third best BMW is Zanardi in 4th who posted a time of 1:10.715 and behind him is the last of the four BMW's in Augusto Farfus who posted a time of 1:10.932. In 3rd is the only non BMW in the top 5. Between Porterio and Zanardi in 3rd is the RML Lacetti of Menu who finished with a time of 1:10.707. The best placed SEAT TDi is Tarquini who finished the session in 6th with a time of 1:10.948. The next best SEAT is Muller who finished 3 places behind him and Jorg Muller (7th - 1:11.239), ex-VXR team-mate Thommo (8th - 1:11.292; Thommo had earlier spun off) and Rob Huff (9th - 2:11.336) with a time of 1:11.543. A further three places behind Yvan with Corthals (1:11.637), Hernandez (1:11.728) and Tielmans (1:11.811) separating them is Gene who completed the session in 14th with a time of 1:11.841. Monteriro finished two placed behind in 17th with a time of 1:12.193. Between them is Coronel and Engstler who posted respective times of 1:11.878 and 1:12.170. A turbocharger problem put Rydell out. Larini finished the worst of the factory drivers down in 18th with a time of 1:12.379. Menu had led the race till the final few moments when the champion beat the time. Free Practice 2 will commence at 11:30. |

Alex Zanardi get's his first pole and BMW's second of the season with Alain Menu and BMW team-mate Felix Porteiro in second and third respectively. Behind him is Rob Huff followed by the two SEAT's of Tarquini and Monteiro.
http://www.mstworld.com/msptresult.a...CC&venue=Czech Republic&circuit=Brno&resultfile=wtc4 I wonder if after this people will still be saying the TDi's are bad for the WTCC? Because this must surely prove that the TDi's don't have it all their own way all the time. Much like Northern South are finding out in the BTCC. |

I guess the T means that they are still entering with the non spec engine and thus can't score points. I think they got the dispensation to at least participate up until this weekend.

The T stands for the "transparent". As the Stewards decided at Pau the Ladas race as transparent cars in Pau and in the next meeting at Brno (14-15 June). The team has to introduce the needed changes so that their cars comply before Estoril (11-13 July) as no further derogations will be conceded.

Zanardi - the lightest car on the track is on pole
But then, looks like ROAL have got some pace at this circuit. Menu & Zanardi front row could be good - a lot of contact in their history. |
