Gronholm versus Burns?
Im really glad that Richard Burns has signed for Puegeot as i think they have the best car for all types of surface, but what is the problem that Marcus seems to have about Richard joining.?

Marcus has problems with it, because he knows he can beat Rovanperra and Auriol, but he also knows Burns will make him look like Makkinen makes Loix look at Mitsubishi - average at best. He doesn't like the idea of his team number 1 status being threatened!!

i dont think gronholm should be worrying just about burns..... rovanpera can still be world champion this year
as for burns making gronholm look like what makkinen does to loix - your going just a touch to far with that one |

I think it will be very interesting to see Burns and Gronholm going head to head in the same car. Burns probably still feels robbed of the world title in 2000 while Gronholm will want to prove that, after a disastrous title defence, he is still one of the best in the world.
Being one of my favourite, I hope Burns runs Gronholm into the ground!! |

The thing to remember is that they're both driving for Peugoet and for boss Corrado Provera the maunfacturer's title is all.
Marcus has experienced this the past two years, but for Richard this is all new. Both will have to put up with the fact that on 4 rallies next year at least (Catalunya, Germany, Corsica & San Remo) they will be providing support to Gilles Panizzi, and if Harri Rovenpera starts the year off well..... So how often they'll be allowed to go head to head will be interesting; as will Richard's ability to cope with the politics (hopefully better than in the exchange of words with McRae earlier in the year). Behind the wheel I think they are pretty closely matched, so whoever gets some good results early will be in with the better chance of team support (given the above). It's just another factor that makes WRC 2002 look so good (and we only have to wait until mid Jan to see it all start) |
