Supercars 2023 Calendar
It's taken a very long time to come out but the 2023 Supercars calendar is now out.
Personally I think that it's really, really good that the Sandown 500 is back in place - don't know how long Sandown will be available for motorsport but while it's there, felt like something of a travesty to run the event anywhere else (or not have the event). On of those "what were they thinking" examples after the 500 previously went to QR and then went back to its rightful home. Shame about no NZ round in 2023 but hopefully they can sort out a new home across the ditch. Only 12 events is a small calendar and no doubt the owners / staff are working on other events - keep hearing that a lot of the delay was caused by discussions around racing at the Singapore GP - don't know how accurate that scuttlebutt is though. Good that the calendar is out at last after Roland (rightly in my view) had a crack at Supercars a week or so ago about it being so late out. |

Great Symmons Plains in May, hopefully no delays on race day or it could turn into a night event!

Hampton Downs needs consent to allow more than 20,000 people. Apparently a one off event is ok, but repeating events needs consent. The single state highway 1 entrance / exit is a traffic management problem too. Also Auckland doesn’t seem to want to fund an event outside of Auckland. I’m not sure what limitations Ruapuna has but it is very close to an international airport which is an advantage. The rest of the calendar is very standard. I can’t believe no Winton… |

Last night at 5pm it was 7 degrees, driving out of the track.
Not really crowd inducing weather for a night race, maybe February but then last light is about 2045. |
