Kings Of Wanneroo 2009

For those that dont know there was a huge event held in Perth Western Australia this weekend.

Stock Superbikes with some of the biggest two wheel names riding.

Andrew Pitt
Guy Martin
Ian Lougher
Ryan Farquhar
Connor Cummins
Keith Amor
Iam Lowary
Ashley Searley
Micheal Swann
Jeremy McWilliams
Simon Andrews
and the King
JOHNNY REA

The Event was won by Johnny Rea with a lap of 56.1 which is 3 tenths of the fastest superbike lap record!!!!!!!!!!! On a bloody prody bike!

Here are some images.

This has got to be the best Motorsport event held in Western Australia for years.

I love Rea's comment about deflating Shannon Johnson who had been walking around with a chest inflated to 100 psi! Shame the Lavertys did not return or Glenn Allerton.

The Kings of Wanneroo should go from strength to strength - helped by the lure of good weather, fun and some ex-pat Irishmen with serious contacts.

It should be part of the ASBK - like AMA have there big weekend SBK races (Kahuna, Daytona)... Saw there was a great list of riders but lacking ASBK riders

As for Johnny Rea's lap record on a proddie bike, dont think ASBK has been there for 2 or 3 years so the lap record should probably get broken by a 2009 spec bike - take nothing away from the lap or rider though....

Great images & sounds like the weekend was a real success & will only get better!

Kings effectively replaces the Wanneroo round of the ASBK which the ASBK decided to drop... A lot better too!

EGG has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Managed to get down there on the saturday, was good seeing the TT riders out there.

Pit access was excellent compared to PI a couple of weeks earlier. Hopefully it wasn't too much of a pain for the riders having people wandering up and down all the time.

Cool looking event. Kinda reminds me of the Toyota 200 they used to host at Willow Springs in CA.

Will the event be shown on TV (speedweek for instance?)

Great looking event, harks back to memories of the old Swann Series.

Last year there was coverage on BBC Northern Ireland. But they did have both Lavertys (not Euge though). Not sure about this year.

Last year Karl Harris raced too.

There was a tv crew with 5 camera setup.

So hopefully we get to see something.

I will be trying to chase down some video.
