Yep its an ex Techspeed 883. They ran Oswaldo Negri. In 1989 it raced with Charles Ricket.

Im running in mono with a Vw 2.0l 16v road engine on carbs.
More power (i hope) than ARP F3.
Thats if i can sort out the probs were having. Prob not be too quick at Combe as i have only done 5 slow laps around Silverstone. 2002 is a development year.

I'll be there somewhere.
Lee, when is Rick appearing in the saloons ?

Good luck to Matt in FF1600. Are you just racing in the Combe race or will you enter any of the other FF races ?

I am jsut planning to do the combe championship at the moment and then the carnival and the festival at the end of the year. I will do the southern race on the 6th though. I want to try and get Donington in at some point, I avent managed to actually race there yet 2 qualifying sessions and 2 abandonded races!! from pole as well!!!

I ought to do some Brands stuff as well so its not too much of a shock at the festival.

lola, you say you are having problems sorting the car..is this by any chance related to running a VW 1600 motor on carbs?? if so , it might be worth talking to the Robinson family of Magnum cars fame who prepped quite a quick Magnum for sprints a few years back which was a pig to begin with but they somehow found the sweet spot..just a thought, and may not be relevant...

Spinner, believe it or not that was quite a small crowd by Combe standards, and whilst I did not catch the Mono's I thought the FF1600's were simply amazing! Did anyone else other than THR see it?

Good to hear about Sam Wood, best wishes there. Like to of seen the FF1600 race from the outside looked great at the front from where I was. Also can anyone explain why , when race 7 (FF1600) were lining up ready to go out, The recovery vehicle decided to bring home the remains of the mono car. I couldnt believe that this was done. Not so much for the drivers about to go out but more for the family and friends helping us. It takes a lot to convince my family or just calm them that I will be fine, there worried enough. So you can imagine what they thought when the recovery truck drove past all 32 cars displaying the horrific crash of the previous race. Surely the truck could of re-routed around the line up area. anyone see my point??

the show must go on tho!

we thought it was far more mad that as soon as the crash happened the race wasnt red flagged. it was in full view of the start line, and they let the cars go by the wheels, carbon and bits of metal!! just under convo! stupid...

I know what you mean Richard it was a bit mad, there were a couple of decisions made that were not the best in the world!

Its true Simon did get the win taken away from him and it was given to me but at the end of the day he came past both me and Alex Ames on the grass (fully) and it was only be both ALex and I getting out of the way to avoid us all being taken out that he got the lead.

It was the best race I have ever had though!! glad it looked as good from the outside as it did from in the car!!

Matt, the reason that Simon had his win taken away was as a result of him gaining an advantage by cutting across the grass.

The race was great and by far the best race of the day !!

You wouldn't believe how annoying it is when you lot keep knocking over the marker boards at the chicanes !!!!

A certain Master Luke Hines even took them out on the green flag lap !!!!!!! Although he was quick he certainly annoyed me by taking them out.

How did your times compare with Lukes ?

Sorry about the marker boards, its just the nature of us drivers I guess. If its any consilation when I got the ones on the right at the first chicane they took my mirror off! But there is time to be had by cutting them corners and we cant resist!!

I think he did a low 1:9s and I did a high 1:11 so closer then it should be I guess.

Those times are pretty close considering...

I guess the boards must be a right pain. They are for us marshals anyway.

Keep up the good work. You'll have to get a 10-Tenths logo on your car somewhere !!!

I will put anything on my car for some help with the entry fees Why dont they just do away with the boards then? they never last a race or a qualifying.

Good race from the FF guys.
Very entertaining, as always!
Well done for the win Matt, you drove very well.
I think it is going to be a good season, I was worried at first that it wouldn't be so close without John and Robin up there, but it looks good so far

THR and Mattray are both right, there were some bizarre decisions last Monday. When will race organisers wake up to the fact that in an incident between a Rescue unit and a single seater racing car the racing car is likely to come off much worse. I could not believe the Southern Counties FF1600 race was not run under the black and yellow quartered caution flags especially as an ambulance and medical car were on the circuit to check Simon Pruce was ok at Tower....
