Katherine Legge, F.Renault Pole at Oulton
A few months ago there was a heated and sometimes downright abusive discussion on this forum debating the driving skills of Katherine. As one of the few people who stuck up for her and commented in a positive way I was pleased to see on Ceefax that she has taken pole position for this weekends race. Congratulations Katherine!

Her pole lap is also the fastest ever for a FR around Oulton.
Absolutely fantastic! Her dad was almost in tears when she came into parc ferme and who can blame him! Well said B Pomfret. |

All available on www.mst-group.co.uk . She had plenty of laps in the 19's and clearly deserved her pole.
She had a monster shunt at Spa in FF and it knocked her confidence for a while, but is great to see her back and competetive. |

It seems Katherine cracked under pressure, after a bad start she went off at Island hairpin A real shame. Have to wait for the next round to see if she can get on the pace again.

well , unfortunatly Katherine has just spun out of the race at the Island hairpin at oultoj Park . So i suppose all those Katherine Knockers can start again now.
What a pity , a win in Renualts would have really drawn some good attention to her , and judging by her qualifing performance yesterday , she deserves some good press at the momennt . |

I think that was her first pole. It's tough the first time to keep control of the nerves, and no surprise she missed the start. Keep it going Katherine!

Katherine went off at Island hairpin after losing her nose cone and front wing in a collision with Ryan Sharp during the restart after the safety car laps - it's a shame that she didn't do better today but let's not forget that there were some well established names who couldn't come close to her time yesterday - all in all a fantastic performance and from here the only way is up

Don't be a party pooper Hysen. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get pole in something as competetive as Renault. She deserves all our praise support and encouragement.

I was referring to her qualifying performance as fantastic - not her race today - although I still believe she could have finished third had it not been for her collision with Ryan. |

Well, I have to admit that despite not rating Ms Legge at all until yesterday, I was very impressed with her pole achievement and awaited the race with bated breath...
I'm sure I wasn't the only one to slap a hand to my forehead and say 'Doh!' when she jumped the start, and I'm afraid she lived up to her reputation by then going off minus a nosecone. I had been expecting her to block Danny throughout the race and cross the line victoriously. It is a shame she couldn't follow through from that pole, but I'm sure she'll have more opportunities this year to make up for it with a good Fortec car underneath her. And now she has experience of sitting at the front of a grid with thirty-odd angry men (and another bird) sitting behind her - I bet she'll never make the same mistake again! Interestingly - where was the Mclaren wonderboy this weekend? |

If she can still be fast at the next few rounds , she will have to put it down to experience .

As the article said, she's not the only one to think that way. In National Formula Ford and Renault there are about 80 drivers competing this year, all wanting to get to F1, but probably only about three of them will get there. You won't get to F1 without the belief that you can do it, so why blame Katherine for saying that?
