Help Please.I have found myself at this thread because of the B5 There was only one and that was Willie Green's, with a BRM V8 engine. It was sold to Willie Tuckett & Andrew Fletcher. Some where I have heard this car is being restored. Willie I know has the original doors from this car, and may be persuaded to sell them, If any body knows of the web site this information has come from I would be pleased to know but not just because of the doors, it is the chassis number. They were stamped on the frame, exactly where I will keep to myself for the time being and this will prove the car's uthenticity.

The Boxenstop museum in Germany reckons to have the B5 although the car in the picture has a BMW logo on the nose.

My father Harry O'Brien owned the Chevron B5 BRM in 1968 he had a garage in Liverpool along with a friend of his John Scott-Davies they sold the B5 to Willie Green at the end of 68.

From an e-mail I received from Rainer Klink at the Boxenstop Museum; the H.S.C.C. Vehicle Identity form lists the following previous owners of the B5:

David Bridges - 1966.
John Burton - 1968.
Willie Green - 1969.
Peter Kaye - 1969.
Willie Tuckett - 1970.
Malcolm Clube - 1973.
Fred Boothby - 1973.
Richard Kwolek - 1974.
John Beasley - 1976.
Robert Linwood - 1977.
Kevin Donan - 1982.
Trevor Needham - 1984.

To my & doubtless Steve O'Brien's dismay, neither Harry, his father, nor John Scott-Davies are mentioned, which doesn't say alot for the credibility of H.S.C.C. records. They were car dealers though I suppose, who just used to race the stock! I can vouch for their ownership though, as they used to drive it past me on my pushbike on my way to Tuesday evening marshalling duties at Aintree & I usually got a wave from the driver!

CHEVRON B5

I WAS WORKING AT DAVID BRIDGES WORKSHOPS AT GARSTANG Nr Preston AT THE TIME When the B5 WAS THERE.
IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT THE B.R.M engine fitted was a spare that David had from his F1 CAR around that time.
Unfortunately the car plus driver fatality were destroyed in a fiery accident at the Nurburgring.
The late Terry Wells did most of the spannering on the B5 certainly when driven by Brian R.
It did suffer quite alot with transmission problems as i remember.

The sign writer on the transporter did a poor job with his spelling OF..... "CHEVERON"

Chevron B5

Although quite some time has passed since my last post on this unique car, i accidently came across an article put together by Bob Curl ( The bodywork designer & builder along with Andrew Mylius of the G.R.O.P.A. -CMCs from 1969 - 1973 ) who states that Willy Tucket who owned the Chevron B5 BRM in 1970 ordered a GROPA to be fitted with the 2 Litre Tasman Engine out of his B5 which was then fitted with an M10 BMW Engine to replace it. Although the GROPAs original concept was to use Chevron B8s etc as the donor car only 2 or 3 B8s were ever used, all the others i.e. 20 in total had Gropa purpose built chassis manufactured of which Willy Tuckets ex B5 BRM Engine was fitted, along, with BDAs & BMWs to the others & indeed the majority of these were sold to the USA in this time period................ This could also explain why the Car in the German Museum is fitted with its BMW Engine ! Unfortunately he did not detail what Willy Tucket did with his GROPA BRM on completion. indeed was this car along with the others exported to the USA ? & lastly back in 1967 when the Car was new, i remember asking David Bridges what the car actually was as i had never seen one before, his reply was a Chevron G.T. Car & not a B5, i am pretty sure that its Type Number was added later ! & yes the Car did have its own CHASSIS NUMBER which was used together with others when applying for Group 4 classification with the FIA in May 1968
