SUNBAC on or off?

According to the Trackside forum, the SUNBAC meeting at Silverstone (5th March) has been cancelled due to a lack of interest. Can anyone confirm this as it seems a bit early to make a decision on running it.

Yeh, definitely off. Seems the expected turnout was 100 cars for the meeting. Silverstone track fee alone is £25k. Doesn't take a degree in maths to figure that the entry fee would be silly money

Mine too, both series I was considering raced there that day! Still it gives us a little longer to get the car up and running (new car this year).

I was told it was due to "lack of interest from clubs"? Which I presume meant they couldn't get enough races (not racers!). The JEC had a race there and CTCRC a few, I think.

Was this most people's first meeting?

bummer

This is a real shame. It has always been a fun meeting and a good start to the season, so I am disappointed, as I am sure others are too.

Oh well, I suppose now I'll have to take up the offer of a ride in a caterham!!

A sad day for motorsport I reckon.

This was always a good meeting and often was my first for the season, so I am saddened and disappointed as I am sure many others will be too.

Bummer!!

First weekend in March is the traditional start of the season, and I think the traditional date for this meeting.

I was at an early season meeting that was snowed off at Silverstone a few years back - but that was BRDC Marshals Club. I got a lift back with a Mr Peter Daly...

Wasn't too bad, we were stuck behind Stuart Kestenbaum all the way.
