Chances are the FIA will bury their heads in the sand and do nothing about it.
I'll have to watch for anything wearing blue and carrying batons/handcuffs next time I'm at Spa. "Sorry officer, I didn't mean to clout you on the back of the head with my 600mm" |

I don't think the FIA will be "burying their heads in the sand".
I understand some very senior FIA people are incandescent about this. |

It's one thing when one or two "security" guys at a race get the wrong info about where photographers are allowed to be (or as usually is the case, either they are their superiors are a wee bit dim) I'm very curious to hear of what miscommunication ending up with these policeman being told that the photogrpahers were not allowed to be there. I'm certain it was nothing more than some idiot who misinterpreted something and/or the standard lack of getting race official approved changes through the layers of people involved in security.
I've met the woman photographer at a CART race a few years back when a security guy tried stopping us from going somewhere that race officails clearly had said we could go right after the grid stuff, and while she is short, she doesnt take no for an answer and can see that she could have gotten herself into a tussel with guys who have fixed ideas. What a nightmare for all these top professionals, especially after being there for an hour already. (all this is assuming that this area was approved, but this wasnt one or two amateurs sneaking in somewhere, these are people who make a living travelling to these race and know the ropes) |

As a Belgian I dont know what hurts me most,
the incompetence of people giving the orders, the polices stage act topped off with cellulars, or the way journalists drag Dutroux into this. Pretty sad :-( Jochen |
