Paul Rayner should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Brands Hatch Formula Renault race predictions

Formula Renault returns to Brands Hatch this weekend for the third race at the track this year, the second on the Indy circuit, and it's still got a meeting there for the winter series in November!

Predictions, please (they'll be accepted right up to the start of qualifying) for the top five in the race, plus how many will be within a second in qualifying and what the pole time will be. Usual scoring system applies.

I'll go with

1) Green
2) Hamilton
3) Watts
4) Bell
5) Long

Pole 44.475
22 within a second

In what was, overall, a high-scoring prediction competition, kbudden scored a brilliant 7 points in the race plus a bonus point for getting close to the pole time - he was just 0.003s off!!!
I also scored a bonus point for the pole time, to keep me in joint second place with littleman, and well done MrTTRaces for getting all five drivers right, but not putting any of them in the right place. Not easy to do... I know I'm supposed to remain unbiased, but it was a shame Will Davison's engine blew because, on a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult in a slicks-and-wings car, he managed to overtake Ryan Sharp and Patrick Long together, at the same time, around the outside of Paddock Hill. Sounds like a brilliant move, and I can't wait to see it on TV.

Scores:
kbudden* 8
Paul Rayner*/littleman 6
paulzinho/pb btcc/MrTTRaces 5
gomick 4

* - Includes bonus point

Next stop - Donington Park, for testing in a week on Wednesday.

OI! I want my point for guessing how many would be within a second of pole!

And what was the top 5 again, I can't remember the exact order!?

Top five was:
1) Hamilton
2) Watts
3) Green
4) Bell
5) Sharp

You don't get a point for guessing how many were within a second, never have done. This might change for the Winter Festival though.

I don't like to be a killjoy, but Patrick Long and Ryan Sharp collided ... "came together" ... (a lovely expression) thereby breaking Pat Long's nose cone. Will Davison was able to get the run on them and drive right round them without difficulty. The incident was reported at the marshall's post. The real unsung hero was not, I would suggest, Will Davison, who hung on too long to his engine, but Pat Long in driving the rest of the race with a broken nose cone. That creates a lot of understeer.

Yeah I spoke to Pat and he said he had a little contact with Sharps gearbox, made a nice little hole too, but I can tell you PL wasn't a happy bunny after the race.

Did that incident do any damage to Pat's wing? I saw the hole in the nose box, but don't remember seeing any wing damage.

Unfortunately I don't think Pat had any damage to the wings :-) Looks like a straight whack up the gearbox of Mr Sharp to me. When Alex had the same problem at Snetterton a couple of weeks ago, slightly bigger hole, he reckoned it gave him huge understeer, and it took him a couple of laps to change driving style to cope. So Pat did annoyingly well to keep his place. The git:-)
