Vettel to RBR in '09?
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/66666
The impressive young German is being tipped for a RBR seat in 2009. As much as I like David Coulthard, I feel that he'll be the one to leave if Vettel does get the drive. |

Is it silly season time already? (actually, I'm not sure the silly season ever ended...)
I think Vettel moving on to Red Bull would make perfect sense - he's obviously very quick, and with another year's experience under his belt he should be more than capable of moving up the ladder, so to speak. And I agree that it would have to be DC who makes way - I think it'll be time for him to hang up his helmet at the end of this season. |

I don't think there has been much that's 'steady' about his driving so far this year! Webber seems to have the edge over him in the early part of the season - his pace is better, and he's showing that when the car is reliable he'll bring it home in the points. And he's hardly Mr Erratic himself...

no, it's based on the fact Webber has completely outperformed DC for a season and a bit ( you might have to look a bit deeper than a couple of lucky points finishes - not too deep though ) Webber and Vettel will make a very handy pairing, and could give an indication to just how good Vettel (or Webber, for that matter) is. It's kids isn't it... let's just hope Vettel doesn't **** it all up this time! This move does make a lot of sense, especially if DC is hanging up the helmet.

It's a no brainer, Torro Rosso is up for sale, Vettel is clearly an asset, DC is long passed his sell by date and if they don't place him at Red Bull i am sure someone else will snap him up, contracts allowing.

Hartley? Judging by his debut in British F3 (taking his team-mate off in race 1, failing to realise that everybody ahead had slowed due to a safety car in race 2) they'd be better off with someone more intelligent, such as Dubya. He's fast, but has a lot to learn - start with 2+2?
The point that STR is up for sale is a good one - Red Bull will want to keep hold of Vettel, who looks very promising so far. DC hasn't impressed so far this year, so maybe his time is nearly up. |

i was just trawling my memory that DC had bought a stake in STR and was going to call it couthard racing...
april fools jokes aside, i think it may end up panning out that way... anyway, RBR should do whatever they can to get Vettel, as i think he's probably the biggest standout talent since TGF. maybe vettel will be named TNGF?... Last edited by rocketracer; 17 Apr 2008 at 02:07. |

I'd rather see Vettel in the BMW again, but at the same time I wouldn't want Nick or Robert to be replaced, so RBR it is I suppose. The kid's quick as hell, and even those he's had an absolutely rubbish start to this season (not really his doing at all) I expect him to impress even more this year.
Coulthard probably won't be too against leaving the team - he'll probably just begin moving up the ranks in motorsport politics anyway. |

well it seems there is abit of unrest at RBR with DC according to the ITV boys in Bahrain whith DC complaining about the mirrors in the pre-season and Newey apparently said "we can easily get another driver", DC has also had 2 accidents this year both where he seemingly didn't use his mirror's and
Webber seems quick and consistant, at this stage i would say Webber/Vettel at RBR. |

Coultard has been a waste of space at RBR since he got there.

I did say "probably".
But it's early days yet and Webber is due to run out of luck pretty soon. |

DC as FIA President!! I can see it now: "If you don't turn your physicals in on time I'll kick 3 colors of (fill in appropriate bodily excretion here) out of you!" On noise abatement: "Quiet? You want Quiet?? I'll show you quiet! Once I knock you out it will be REAL quiet!!" On "green" racing: "You want green? I'll show you green once I pop you square in your nose you'll be seein' green and red and ..." Yep! I am liking this idea! |

Actually on the safety issue I would expect DC to be 'over the top'.Watch out for drivers turning up to races clad in multiple layers of cotton wool. Last edited by Marbot; 17 Apr 2008 at 10:47. |
