Longcross RIP

This from Barry Guess.
It is with regret that I have to advise that following an announcement made yesterday by Landowners Crest Nicholson PLC, the Longcross Test Track at Chertsey will formerly close on 31st December 2007 with all current QinetiQ staff being made redundant on that date.

Sorry Bert Mk2!

That's not good. It looked like there had been a reprieve only a few weeks ago but if QinetiQ are out then Longcross will be a housing estate before long. RIP "The Snake"

I was at Longcross last week for Tour Britannia and we had to be very well behaved, as in the wearing of seat belts while driving to post for one thing.
Had it stayed open there would have been lots of changes, but at least it would have been there.

As you say - a sanitised Longcross wouldn't be as good but at least it would still be there. Looks like we're going to have to venture a bit further afield in search of decent events - so we'll probably end up doing less as the cost per event will go up with travel, overnight trips etc.
