Your thoughts about mondello double header
Mondello double header?? what is he talking about?? thats just under 4 and a half months away!
Well, as of 01:25am on the wee hours of wednsday morning it remains that the two British Rallycross Evens in Mondello will only cater for British Rallycross Drivers. Not trying to take an hit at the championship organisers, but in an ideal situaion the rounds in mondello will be an complete sucsess (sorry for my spelling), but it is not an ideal situation because british rallycross drivers are paying their entryfees in Sterling naturaly so no change there. But the 50,60,70 irish rallycross drivers that probably outnumber the british lads comming over are asked to pay the amounts that i have mentioned her before in sterling, which mean in my case for example i would have to pay 300 euro per event which is 600 euro before the car even enters the track and the nessesary fluids and equipement baught or organised. As standard for the same circuit Irish drivers pay 130 per event (late entryfees are 160 euros) which is great value and there is an healthy turn out of cars, so by my thinking 300 euro an day will deter alot of peopl, i know at least 2 supercar drivers who said the weekend is just not affordable for them to run. the stockhatch will probably be the only class with alot of numbers because the entry fee is only an turn and a half more than normal. Now i have spoken to the irish rallycross committie and to tim Whittington about this but to my informed knowladge at this moment in time irish drivers will NOT be given discounted rates. Comments as always! Last edited by Cryos; 23 Jun 2004 at 00:37. |

Are the entry fees for the MSA championship the same at every round? If so that would explain why there's no flexibility.
I'd have thought that an all round reduction in entry fees for the Irish rounds would work out in the organisers favour - you'd get more drivers travelling from the mainland (reduced entry fee would mean more money available to spend on the ferry crossing) and also more local drivers. Whilst the individuals contribution would be less the total would be greater. I can't see however that the organisers can really charge the British championship guys one price and then offer local drivers a reduced rate - that does seem a little unfair, one price for all is a better idea but it should at least be a reasonable one that encourages people to enter the fray. |

There should be flexability for the irish drivers as they will make up the bulk of the numbers for the two rounds, if there is no reduction there will be an very sparse field so in ways it is an catch 22 situation, if they dont charge less they will make less if they do charge less they will get more numbers but will get less profit from the drivers.
As far as i know it is costing the championship organisers the same amount to rent mondello, the facilities and emergancy services as an normal irish event so there is no excuse for charging more, it would bennifit both nationalitys if there was less charged. Winnie, i dont know being honest they shouldnt be as high as they are. The british championship i think is the dearest in terms of entry fees and what you get for that fee. As i commented before 40% of the fees probably go to the facilities and trackrental and services, the rest gose into the back pocket of the organisers. Ive seen some figures before about event costs but they seem like made up figures, ive seen irish rallycross figures for events and it is nothing compaired to the "Suposed" figures floting around here.... Also BertMk2 i had forgotten compleetly about an reduced rate for everyone, thinking some more about it the organisers would have to rent the track in Euros and therefore they would pay less which in theory would constitute an decrease in entryfees..... must look into that |
