Egg [iV8SC13R32,33,34] Sargent Security Phillip Island 360 - 22-24 Nov

And we have 4 weeks till the next round of the series... a newly resurfaced Phillip Island... complete with a new race sponsor in Sargent Security...

3 races, one half/half, and 2 normal 100km races...

Who will do well?

Current form guides are kinda useless... other than to say on a fresh, gripped up surface, are we looking at the usual suspects in 888, WP, FPR and maybe BJR doing the business?

Or will the Benzes get their ducks in a row and just go... BLAM!!

#2 for the win?

Could you go to more opposite tracks round to round?

PI will barely have a bump after the resurface and more grip is only going to make the V8's more exciting to watch.

FPR had the speed early here last year but T8 soon closed the speed gap, HRT are working towards spoiling the party, can't see anyone outside the 4 title contenders and the HRT due getting near the win.

Engel has been here and won before he doesn't need to learn the track...if he can't perform he needs to go

Mr S. Johnson has been consistantly faster than him. It's just that he hasn't got the link to AMG that Mr Engel does.

The usual suspects will be there, in qaulifying, but on the race, dont be suprised by BJR, RNR, TDR, some others did well at the coast, but now the open spaces may be what they are after, can go that bit harder without hitting concrete, I dont think it will be a walk in the park for RBRA and FPR will have to dig deep to haul them in.

Erebus will want to go for it as well. THe nissans, besides Rick, if their reliabilty issues are overcome, and GRM will be looking for better results.

Down side is the 60/60 sprint, boring as

This is the best track for the 60/60 restart, lots of track before T1 to sort it out.

V8SA To Hold Emergency Tyre Test At PI Before The Round

It seems Mr Percat is in demand as a tester...

But.. what happens if they test the softs & hards and discover either/both fall apart?

There's been plenty of 4 wheel miles of racing held since the resurface in January with no issues reported that I know off and let's face it the MotoGP should've seen it coming after a few issues at the World Supers in February as well as various other bike races since then.

Only common sense that they would check out the new surface before the event. MotoGP looked as dumb as F1 at Indy without testing.

They only run the hard's at Ph Island any way, so if they don't hold up
I am sure they will re-jig the schedule to make sure they do.

Can't see there being too much of an issue.

At the first VSCRC at the island, there where a number of the larger heavier cars complaining about excessive tire wear.
A number of the club car drivers wanted there main race distance shortened by 2 laps so the tyres would last.

The rice burner and turbo drivers did not want a bar of it.

As for the V8's- its the same for every one. Could make for some
entertaining racing.

About as many as the supposed top drivers drop their wheels of the circuit , then blame the tyre for their poor driving .

That was a shocker of a day. Only had about 30 metres to run to the car and got absolutely drowned in the seconds it took to get there.

Please God don't do that to us again this weekend.
