John Miles RIP
I have read elsewhere that John Miles died at the weekend. He was a very good development driver for Lotus in the sixties and seventies and still improving road cars in very recent times. The Lotus 63 wasn't his favourite car though.Worth reading his opinions if you aren't aware of his standing in the word of vehicle development. He was the subject of "Lunch with...." in Motor sport a while back.

Wasn’t he also talented musically?
He coped with a lot of dignity, being team mate to Rindt that fateful weekend in Monza 1970. RIP |

I learned of this man only in his passing and in the mid 80s, he started a Jazz Record Label.

Sad to hear that John has passed away. I had the fortune to work with John as we developed road tyres for the M100 Elan & other cars, including the Lotus Omega, in the eary 90s.
We took turns in trying to kill each other as we tried in vain to get the tyres right. John often drove in bare feet to get a better feel for the pedals & sometimes forgot to put shoes back on before getting out of the car ! He once was taken ill during a test period wil us in Luxembourg & had to be carted off to hosital for a check up. He was complaining about the poor secondary ride & chronic tyre noise of the ambulance all the way to the hospital ! That was John !! Rest in peace my old friend ! Martin Hood |

Only heard about Johns death last weekend . We first met up in the very early 60s when he first came to Brands with his diva to practice on either a Wednesday or Saturday . There was never any fear of his Diva rusting, there was more oil in the foot well Than the engine and when he got out of the car his feet were soaking in Castrol are R.
Many more stories about the invisible man but rest in peace John and thanks for the tussles . |
