RallycrossRX 2015
I know, its a bit early, but there is already talk of driver decisions for 2015, so I thought I'd start a fresh thread.
First up is Henning Solberg who has been offered a free drive for the Monster World RX Team in 2015 (I assume he would partner Liam?)... http://erc24.com/archives/19736 ...I wonder where that leaves Jeanney? Can we expect Tohill back in a LDM Supercar (or any Supercar for that matter) in 2015? |

Can't edit my first post, so will have to resort to a double post!

KMS will do the whole series with Johan Kristoffersson and Ole Veiby
Hedström will build a new car and sell at least one of his Skodas. Don't know if he will do the whole series. Back in Höljes he was in talks with Liquid Moly and that they were thinking of sponsoring him, like a real big sponsor Per Eklund revealed today the VW Beetle he has been building in "secret" and that he had three Saabs ready to race for next year. A few drivers have been in touch with him about driving both a Saab or the Beetle. http://www.vf.se/sport/bilsport/eklunds-hemliga-bil A few weeks ago I saw a video where (as crew chief) Knut-Ove Børseth tested his Focus in a new livery and planned on running a team with two drivers, him not being one of them I think. The team is to compete next year in some ERX and WRX events and has set goals on becoming ERX champion in 2016 and WRX driver and manufacture champion in 2017. I meant to post it before but didn't know where. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV1woeGkVwQ (video in Norwegian) |

When do the dates for the various events usually drop?

Looks like no Villeneuve for 2015...
http://erc24.com/archives/19785 ...though does anyone actually care? He was certainly a big name to advertise the World Championship with, but I personally wasn't bothered by him joining the Championship (or the fact that he didn't run the vast majority of rounds). |

Villeneuve was a disappointment for me also, won't be missing him either really. Though, I do agree with what he says about the rules and organizers, and the competitors. It is a bit risky everything about it

But complaining about drivers that show up in only half of the WRX rounds is funny seen that he did just 7 out of 11 so far...

Good riddance in my kind, was uncompetive, non commital and rather disparaging about the car he was no doubt being paid to drive!

I didn't actually think he had done as many as seven rounds, though the fact he has made such little impact when he has turned up probably hasn't helped. |

Petter Solberg posted a (pretty cool) onboard video on Facebook yesterday. The link for the video was accompanied by the text...

Perhaps a bit of an assumption, but if Petter is talking about the 2015 World Rallycross Championship can we take that as confirmation he is back again? (and not returning to WRC as some have suggested). |

No major surprises in terms of venues really are there? But no super 1600 at the British round What's going to fill the gaps in the timetable? There were some big gaps as it was - retro rallycross maybe? As long as it's not drifting!

I really enjoyed the Super 1600s this year at Lydden. I hope they're added back in.

Beginning of the end for the traditaional suport classes.
Will be RX Lites, a generis formula, that was OK, but not as interesting technically, and probably just as expensive, . Surely no rwd anymore, that has to go |

That's a big loss that s1600.isn't going to be in the UK. We have finally got some local s1600.drivers who, whilst not front runners, would have been good to have. Touring Car hasn't taken on in the UK at all and I doubt all the Norwegians will make the trip. But the big loss for me is that the ERX won't be at lydden so that's at least 10 Supercars that won't be making the trip, if the figures are the same as this year. Fingers crossed they change their mind.

Who are we expecting to see next season? Who would you like to see as a Wildcard driver? I'm really hoping Tanner Foust goes to Lydden Hill again.

I think the whole "wildcard" thing is nonsense because everybody is able to join.
Not a surprise of course but shame to lose Kouvola. To be honest not sure I still like WRX in 3 years time... |

Yes, losing that venue bothers me too. It's such a cool track.

That's my concern as well, especially as I have really enjoyed this year. There have been some things I haven't been keen on (specifically some of the temporary tracks and the lack of coverage for the support classes), but for the most part I thought the good has outweighed the bad.
I think we all foresaw changes coming with the support classes, but dropping the S1600 from so many rounds is not what I was expecting. Is the reduction in rounds really want the drivers in S1600 and TC want? Uncertainty about the future of Holjes isn't good to hear either. |
