Race 1 - Hockenheim (GER), 17th May 2009
Round one it is this weekend.
Ralf's in a top drive - Jamie's in a banger. There's a girl fight as usual and more British drivers than any other nationality in the premier German series. Should be great. |

I'm sure it'll be a very close battle between Paffett, di Resta, Scheider and Ekstrom. Kristensen also is able to deliver the best result.

Thank God it's finally getting under way! That's got to be the longest off season ever. Like many others I think Mercedes have wasted one of the new cars by giving it to Ralf - he really needs to prove me wrong, he has no excuses left - he has to win a race this year.

They say there's a weight damper (or how is it called) on new Mercs.

It's on Setanta, but not live. If you've got an old Astra dish - well done!

Kristensen was a bit more succesfull compared to McNisch, so it does make some sense. 3 victorys in 5 years is not stellar, but you can definitely say he has made an impression in Germany.
Good luck to him anyway. |

Ecky on pole.
First Mercedes only 6th! I did not see qualifying. What happened with Spengler and Green (both on last row)? Paffet and Schumacher on the 5th row. |

Shocking for Mercedes really! The new cars are 6th, 11th, 12th and 19th! (Whearas Audi is 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th). Nice work Jarvis! Last edited by Hazard; 16 May 2009 at 13:48. |

Green could show very fast lap (he was 2nd for the first hour of training) But, unfortunately, he damaged the car in Nordkurve and wasn't able to make any lap in the afternoon.

Spengler's best lap was canceled - he was too wide in Nordkurve. That lap was really fast - he was able to enter Q2. But he had not enough fuel on that stint, and after refueling there was a gremlin in his Merc's brains.
I wouldn't say it's all over for Mercedes yet. But it's going to be very tough. |

Only just watched this race (waiting for silly delayed coverage).
Pretty eventless near the front, with the exception of Ekstrom's puncture robbing him of what was going to be an easy win. However, Tom get's off on the right foot. Lots of silly contact near the back. Katherine Legge most often involved in it, taking off Ralf and taking out Susie. Paffett made a silly move at the start taking out Prémat - which resulted in his bonnet falling off forcing him out. And with his bonnet landing of Ralf's car, forced him into an early pitstop too - hehe. As for Setanta's coverage - oh dear. |

Happy for Kristensen. The shot of the mechanics pulling Ralf's roof back into shape was pretty funny. Pretty decent drive from him too, without the extra stop he might have been near Di Resta.
Other than that: *yawn* |

Well,Ralf was rather quick yesterday. Very happy for Bruno - from 19 on the start to 5. Jarvis had a brilliant racing week-end.
Hope, 2008-spec cars continue to battle for points at Lauzitz. It's Merc's turn I think. |
