Le Mans freebies
Over the last 23 years I have collected many thinks including caps, lighters and t shirts at the event and still have some that make the annual trip every year, including some that are now many years old. One red baseball cap with Lemans 95 on the side will be returning this year for the 14th time does anyone have anything similar which should have been thrown away but you hang on to it for reasons that make little sense.

The LMS Spa 2007 lanyard. I got it last year when I won tickets for my very first real life race ever. It is very dear to me

I'm still cherrishing a very cheapass T-shirt I bought in my first year at Le Mans in '96. It's very thin by now but it is showing a Gulf McLaren F1 GTR passing the pits! |

The best I've had so far was some venison after the race in 2005. Some guys in the tents next to us cooked too much and passed it around. Sadly I had actually passed out from beer and sun exposure long before they did this and woke up to find some cold venison lying on my chest. Still tasted good though.

I believe that my Marshal's coveralls from '99, '00, '01 & '02 would fit the bill.

1988 Jaguar white(ish) Flat Cap - way too small now but finds its way onto parcel shelf most years!

Intriguing question......
I have my white and blue hat that has come to Le Mans with me for something like 10 years now - this is me with M. Fab in 2002..... Ayse + Fab Not really anything to do with the event though.... I have quite a lot of memorabilia that I've collected over the last 22 years, but it all stays at home....... |

I still have my official Silk Cut Jaguar t-shirt from 1986. Trouble is, it doesn't quite fit me any more...... ('Doesn't quite ' being the understatement of the year! ).

My history isn't nearly as good as anyone else here really! I have the programme from the '07 race, my first visit to LM - I'll be keeping for a long, long time, purely for the reasons stated in this thread.
It's not LM, but I do still have a race programme for the British GT Championship at Snetterton in 1998, hailing the arrival of the Porsche 911-GT1 to the series. Not that special, nor is it particularly old at the moment (although the F3 entry list is quite intriguing!), but I'll be keeping it too, brings back some nice memories! |

I have my waterproof zip pouch mac that I have taken every year since the massive downpour in 198? (except last year). Not really a freebie as I paid a £1 for it.
Never wore it, never even unzipped it in previous years. It will be packed this year as a precaution ! |

My 1977 'Robin Hamilton Aston Martin' t-shirt. Way too small for me now, but won't ever part with it! '77 was the first year RHAM/1 competed at Le Mans. I also have a couple of 1982 Nimrod Racing Automobiles t-shirts and a Nimrod jacket that I bought last year on eBay...
...so I DO have the anorak to prove it! |

On the "freebie" side of things we still have a LM tyre in our garden behind the shed. Not sure on year without looking but certainly close on 10 years old.

A selection of the posters given free with the Saturday/Sunday morning paper.
My Fav? one from 1992 done by Jean Graton of Michel Vaillant, very much in keeping with his cartoon strip and even has a VR00 coming of the back of the trade mark blue car (looks like a Grp C as well) Got it hanging in my dining room next to another my Graton, this time one I paid for of the Fina Macca F1's and the Valliant Courage. even the missus likes it! result Last edited by Nordic; 8 May 2008 at 13:24. |
