Racing a Ford Anglia
Is there some body who can help me with parts for a race Ford Anglia or a address of a company
Many years ago there was a little book Tuning the Ford Anglia from I think Clive Trickey and a magazine Car and Car Conversion with a lot of articles about racing with a Anglia do you know if this is still available someware |

Hi phhok. I just had to answer this one !
I have a copy of the book in question but to be quite honest it isn't any more informative than what most prep shops already know as it was published at a time when saloon car racing was really starting big time and things have moved on. I own a very quick Anglia that I have built up over the years and have gained a fair bit of Knowledge in using these cars since the mid 60s and racing them for almost 40 years. PM me with an outline of what you want to use it for as there are a lot of options. |

I hope they have moved on a bit further than Clives book has over the years.

Sadly the current trend is to stick a 2litre Vauxhall engine in them.

Yes that was a 1500 supercharged job, and I remember somebody had one for rallying in the 90s but were only homoligated up to 1340cc
In the 90s Ledo Models were going to make a model of my actual car and they got me to take the car up to the factory, but in their wisdom they decided to make a model of the Allardette rally car instead. Everybody must have seen it !!! |

If you want to race in a historic(ish) series and use the 1500cc unit (IMHO the only one worth bothering with as the 1340 and 1200's are too small and you won't catch a Mini and I believe from memory 3 bearing crank units) you can race in CTCRC Classics and Historics and we have several good uns currently racing. Come to a meeting and have a word with Richard Sprigg or Nick Jones both very approachable chaps who I am sure would be happy to chat with you, Richard's car was on the club stand at this years Race Retro Stoneliegh show.

Absolutely, the small matter of the North Sea between phhok and a CTCRC meeting would be of little consequence.

You can of course make a screamer all steel 997-1340cc that won't blow up or (if its within the rules) use the later 1100 -1300 5 bearing job that I have seen in a few FIA Anglia's with a "mysterious" 105 or 109e plate on the block ! |

Actually Pete it would be just 21 or is it 22 miles of English Channel and across to Dover for the Lydden Hill Club run historic race on the 25th July where we have a full grid in the Pre 66's including our very own Zefarelly making a welcome guest appearance in the Cortina GT (now there is a man to talk Kent engines with), the thread starter is probably closer than many of our boys some of whom like Nick are coming down from the Dales or the Wirral boys.

Er, yes but to get to Calais our friend has to drive around two/three hours from the Netherlands. Actually maybe longer if he's in Amsterdam.
Keep plugging it though Al. |
