Jaguar evaluate C-X16 GT3 with Williams

Jaguar evaluate a GT3 versions for the new compact sports car C-X16, recently presented as a concept at Frankfurt auto show IAA, with the collaboration of Frank Williams and his Team. European endurance races will be his goal.

Not only that, Williams will help Jag in future GT competitions also for the C-X75. Some of the models produced will go to the races. For this important scoop was made a render.

It could always be a one-make series/glorified track-day car like the Ferrari FXX and the Pagani Zonda R.
Ridiculos costs aside, I'd really like a new GT1 or whatever for all the homeless hypercars out there.

It does, but usually as "unclassified" and outside of any current class structure, especially when it runs in the ALMS.

Well, there are much mopre GT3 cars than GTE, so that's less likely that the other option.

Hybrids will have a future in GTE so the 911 is a glimpse of the future. The 918 and C-X75 use technology more suited to P1, the 918 uses a version of the RS Spyder engine while the C-X75's 1.6T could be the basis for a P1 engine.

The RSR XKR-R program ends soon, that leaves the door open for the rumoured P1 and a customer GT program based around the C-X16.

I'm not talking about the latter car, but rather the first one spoke of, the X16. That car will likely be the XKR replacement as you said. The other supercar I don't know where will race.

I don't think Jaguar has announced whether the production version of this car will actually have the flybrid system, let alone the race car.

I was thinking more of the small capacity turbo engine and in a general sense how it would be easier to build a clean sheet design using what they can from the C-X75, call it the C-XR75.

Jaguar May 6, formalizing the production of C-X75 has specified that the 250 units produced, 50 will be allocated to the races.

In fact, the collaboration between Jaguar and Williams is much broader with development of all-new engine 1.6T and racing version for the C-X16

That figure of fifty has been mentioned (copy and pasted) at a few places but I haven't seen any quotes and it seems an awfully large number when you consider they'll be going for £1m apiece.

What is known (rumoured at least) is the new Jaguar management will be ending their deal with RSR and have started the process of investigating a P1 entry. Williams are onboard for the C-X75, have prototype expereince with the BMW V12 LMR and Patrick Head has joined the FIA Endurance Commitee so it would make sense if they were involve with the P1.

The figure of 50 cars for the races is written in the official press release on 6 May when he announced the production of the C-X75 hybrid supercar.

It needs taking out to pasture yesterday. They may as well have been hurling money into a woodchipper. It's not gaining them any publicity, I'd say it's actually hurting the brand.

Plenty of exciting projects and noises coming out of Jag now I'd rather just see them put everything into that.
