Maybe Michael paid Ralf to hit Rubens
Notice how TGF always comes through these messes in great shape? All in all, a wretched start to the season. Where are the red flags, if they used them in Germany, why not now? |

TGF is still on the track. Why red flag it? And already Ralf is screaming it's not his fault -- obviously it IS his fault. (How can he blame this on Montoya?)

Darn, and now Trulli's out. This isn't any fun.
Of course that means Jag's in Fourth and Fifth, who woulda thunk that just half and hour ago? |

ohhh hang on Tim Schenken I believe is in control , even though he is a former driver himself this guy has done nothing but create complete havoc in australian motorsport , he should not be in control of a go kart race let alone an F1 race.
If he IS the man in control then throw all ya can at him , and if he is in fact not in charge then completely disregard this reply |

Top Ten Reasons Ralf Gives for Accident:
10. Someone put a tack in his seat. 9. Montoya cut his brake lines. 8. David Coultard paid him to do it. 7. Thought he saw a dog on the track. 6. Montoya rear-ended him. 5. Jos Verstappen rear-ended him. 4. Water bottle line came loose and dumped ice water in his lap. 3. Thought it was Michael ahead of him. 2. Leaned down to change the CD just as the lights went out. AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON RALF DROVE OVER THE TOP OF RUBENS: 1. When the launch control kicked in, his glasses slipped off his nose. Last edited by Liz; 3 Mar 2002 at 03:27. |

I don´t think Jaguar will make it to the end. PDLR´s car has already problems so I wouldn´t bet on that.

Oh well...there's a Minardi in the points! And it's Mark Webber!
Villeneuve's out... Looks like if you finish you will get points... |

I wonder what they would do if it started raining... some more cars went out... and there were just 3 or 4 cars in the race...
2 minardis in the points... now that is an unusual sight to be seen |

If there are no injuries and no major problems with clearing the track, then why red-flag the race just because a few major contenders are out?
Really, now the race is over, there was no need to red flag it. Plus most Australians got a result that we'll cherish until the next race. Last edited by f1manoz; 3 Mar 2002 at 06:23. |

I don't think that it should have been red-flagged. The track wasn't blocked, there were no injuries, and the track workers obviously felt they could get it cleaned up pretty quickly, which they did. Overall, I think the right decision was made.

The safety car was the right decision. The red flagg should only be shown if a driver is trapped or there is an injured person that an ambulance needs to get to.

Gotta agree with Mac et al here. In hindsight, they shouldn't be rewarding first corner shannanigans with another chance
If it sets a precedent for the rest of the season, then it can only be a good thing... right? I'm not the biggest F1 fan, but todays race was an absolute cracker |

Now after some sleep yes, safety car was a good idea.
But at that precise moment I thought a red flag would have been the best solution. I stand corrected. |

I strongly believe bringing out the safety car was the wrong decision, again like Martin Brundle said, both from a show point of view and from a safety standpoint. With that many cars involved a thorough clean up of the area should have taken place, we saw bits of bodywork being kicked up by cars throughout the race.
The red flag was not brought out for several reasons though, Mark Webber being in the points being one of them. |
