I find this as no surprise. $2M is a plus. We need some more announcements although I fear we may not get the complete picture until Las Vegas - and I do hope that the field can be set with no renting seats for races - I guess what I am saying is I would like to see 18 drivers that will compete the entire schedule - if a rent a driver shows, let it be to increase the grid not maintain the grid.

I do too, luke. And if things go according to in the past, I'm afraid we'll get more of the same, racin. Ronnie Bremer runs out of money? Get someone else. Tonis Kasemets, Gaston Mazzacane, Fabrizio del Monte......shamefully, because of his talent, Andrew Ranger.......and on and on.

Great news and very much a no brainer for Walker/Team Australia.
Interesting to see how Simon performs in this season. |

One thing I do find surprising is why didn't someone else scoop him up. TA is a good team and I think they have a lot of potential for the future, but if a driver comes with all the funding required to run the car for a year, wouldn't RuSport be interested in them? (Forsythe and PKV can't exactly take the prize money or else it would appear hypocritical)

A shame Team Australia can't run 2 Australian drivers - at least Tag had an Australian wife. Still, Simon is very promising, and his funding is purely on merit, so it's great to see him confirmed. I'd make him ROTY favourite, and Will a good bet for at least 1 win.

One is in ChampCar, one is in ALMS, one in Formula 1, one in Nascar Busch (and thats me being generous) and the other in the local touring car series. So options werent at Craig Gores finger tips, considering that he has decided to step out of the Atlantic funding, I am not sure where the next wave of Aus champcar drivers are going to come from. |
