minimangler should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
FIA GT Rnd 2: Silverstone 4-6 May 2007

I know its probably a tad early for this thread but it also offers somewhere to gather up Citation Cup, GT4 and GT90s revival, and i'd like to get some idea of entries? And can someone explain what Citation cup actually is apart from an amateur class in FIA GT?

I'm going but have heard little about potential entry lists for these classes.

DSC says that the Britcar Stealth B6 will apparently be part of the GT90s line-up.

It's apparently allowed it since it first ran in 1999. Bit of a stretch though, in my opinion.

I initially thought I was going to have to miss going to Silverstone as I was down to be on-call for work, but luckily for me someone wanted to swap a weekend in March, so I'm now free-free-free to attend.

But, how come the qualifying is all on the Friday and there's nothing on the (Bank Holiday) Monday?

i would presume because its an international series and it would lose tv audience in other countries?

Good Point MM, that makes perfect sense. I'll just have to find another event to attend on the Monday.

I'm still kind of on the fence - it's a huge journey for me to get down there but the GT3 Championship looks fantastic and the concept of the GT90 series assuming it does actually bring in a decent grid is mouthwatering. I'm kind of waiting as long as possible to find out what is definitely going to be in the GT90 field and if the Ford GTs mooted for GT3 are actually going to be ready in time. Been a while since I saw Scuderia Ecosse in action as well.

From the latest series newsletter:

"We, at SRO, are proud to confirm a rich and diverse first starting grid, including three McLaren GTR, two Porsche 911 GT1, one Lotus GT1 and several Venturi, Ferrari, TVR, Stealth and Marcos cars"

well, i think if you dont attend another race all season, do this one- after all actual entrance is only 20 quid for the weekend. bring some sarnies and that cuts it down even further, but i suppose from all the way up there your petrol bill will be pretty huge?

I wouldn't normally venture too far from Knockhill in any case but this event looks pretty damn good. Most of my disposable income has to go towards my own racing so as you say, fuel will cost a bit plus 3-4 nights of accomodation wont be free either and I'll be damned if I'll be camping out in the rain.

haha and they probably charge a f**kload for camping too. there are plenty of b+bs listed on the silverstone site, so its worth a look. and, just for you, it ends at 5 on sunday, giving you another hour to make it home!
why not drive up on friday, find a b+B, and leisurely cruise in on saturday morning?

Nigel Mansell is to race for Scuderia Ecosse at Silverstone. Tested for the team already but it is not yet decided who he will partner. Does this mean that one of the regulars is not available?

Is this the first Ferrari "Il Leone" has raced since his F1 days?

Question posed was is this the first Ferrari he's driven since his F1 days. The GP Masters weren't Ferrari powered were they?

And in answer, I think so - certainly competitively - maybe he's done a demonstration run, and hey, maybe even driven one on the road perhaps

Last time I camped at Sillystone it was about a fiver! So cheap all round really and that was for the three days of the combined LMES/BGT weekend two years ago. Great showers too and its fantastic as you are on the infield so you dont have to walk far to see the action. I'm camping but as I'm also marshalling there I dont actually pay, but I would if I wasn't working!

See you there folks!
