I got my car!!!!!
Finally, after years of wanting, I finally have my first car (and my licence )
It's basically a Nissan Skyline Silhouette Wagon, Silhouette being the model, the sports model. What it really is: A Nissan Pintara (Skyline with a 4cyl motor) with a Skyline GTS2 140kW motor and gearbox (normal Skyline motor has 114kW, so it's faster than a normal Silhouette ) Standard GTS2 mods are: cam, headwork, extractors, and a piggyback computer [the motor came out of the guy I bought it off's GTS2 sedan that he put a turbo motor and a manual gearbox into]. The car is also lowered, has 15" mags, dark tint, spottys , Silhouette two-tone paint, and a bit of a stereo. I paid $2500 for it, pretty good condition (built 4/89), has new radiator, lisence and water pump, but needs: new shocks, handbrake cables and brake pads, still good value i say heres some pics: |

Just to those who don't know, the R31 series Skylines and Pintaras sold in Australia were built here and included a 6cyl 3litre RB30E motor (also in the VL Commodore) and Pintaras had the CA20E motor, Apparantly although the wagons were alos sold in Japan, the back of them were designed right here by Nissan Australia
The Aussie Skylines lost the IRS of the R180 and R200 diffs from the jap Skylines (they thought they wouldnt hold up to out harsh conditions, when they are infact one of the strongest diffs around (the R200 likened to a Ford 9inch) so we got some crappy Borg Warner live axle diffs that whined and clunked and easily developed heaps of backlash, apparantly the Pintara 2pinion centres (with different spline axles aswell) are stronger and quieter than the Skyline 4pinion centres, so guess im better off there Another pic: |

Insurance for it isn't fun I have to get it assesed on friday before they will insure it (all I wasnt is 3rd party fire and theft!), so I can't drive it till then....well I can, but if I crash i gotta pay big bucks, im expecting it to be something like $5-600 a year...and thats in my mums name and with a 10% discount...nice and cheap...not last pic, i'm about to swap one of the spottys on it now. |
