Eaves is a Dynamics driver

www.tocatour.com is reporting that Eaves has clinched a late deal to race for Dynamics (now under a new title) for the 2004 BTCC.

direct link to article

http://content-you-control.co.uk/am0...icle_367.shtml

this is just weird...

i though howell was confirmed as the second driver?

also i thought the red colour scheme was to reflect the computeach sponorship, they're not going to be happy are they?

less red cars = good

has vic binned the 307s then? i suspect that team varta would snap them up if they could

Like the "I don’t have any friends among the drivers and I’m not there to make friends" quote. Seems Mr Eaves is up for it!!

I assume Gareth Howells will have known about this for a bit, my gut feeleing is that he is now a candidate for an arena seat as he will have some money behind him

If he had money behind him, wouldn't he be out there with TD? But I would like to see him at Arena, along with Gavin Pyper!!

Arena option not there it would appear. Gareth has just posted a message on BTCCPages to say he is out until further notice, hoping for a Third TD car

Very Sad

Come again? The reason Howell didn't keep his place at Dynamics is because he doesn't have any money! A shame, but that's how it works ...

According to Motorsport News, Gareth is stil part of TD's plans, if a budget can be put together- apparently the team are working on a deal for a third car which may appear later in the season

The deal with Dan Eaves was put together by Vic Lee- VLR won't be running in the BTCC this year

My thought was that Gareth MUST have brought some money to get the drive in the first place. As far as I understand it Vic Lee and Eaves brought MORE money so they get the drive. Gareth could now go to Arena/WSR and say 'I've got this much... how about it'

What car have TD got? They only bought 2 Civics from Arena, didn't they?

There's always the car that Howell used last year - not sure whether thats available to them or not still.

Sad to see Gareth go, by sounds of it if he did have the drive he'd have been in a similar situation to Pyper last year - race by race deal. However not dissapointed Eaves is there not as if some unknown amateur has nicked Gareths seat.

The MN article doesn't say what car it is, or that they have it yet- just 'Steve Neal said the squad was finalising details of a car for Howell to drive and that he may appear later in the season'

Maybe something other than a Honda?

I wish. I am afraid that we don't have any money at all! The only reason that Gareth was in the car last year was because Steve Neal wanted him in it, the same as he did this year. Steve is a businessman though and, to be successful, the numbers have to add up. If Halfords come along and have the money but want their driver, then that is the way it is.

Whilst extremely disappointed, Gareth is still looking forward to the opportunities later in the year. He is still young enough for this just to be a setback, and he will get up, dust himself down and go to Thruxton to cheer on the team. If Steve and TD can find the money to run Gareth for part of the season, they will do.

is that the definate / official livery?

i understand the halfords computeach tie up now

i was wondering how the team could be Team dynamics halfords computeach racing!

i dont mind the livery but just swaping the white and red to black and orange isnt as effective as the original. I guess white instead of black wouldnt have worked either becuase it would have got lost in the orange.

i guess this means the VLR cars in their own right have bit the dust for 04, particualrly as the main sponsors have gone to other teams from breeze and eaves, honeywell halfords etc.

edited because i forgot

re howell possibly back in the astra at some point, it was a borrowed chiltons car from 02, i have the feeling that the third 03 arena honda was held onto by the chilton clan so perhaps something can be arranged?

i think Eaves is saying things like he is cos he's really up for it. Afterall for the first time he's in a genuinely competitive car.

To be fair his 2002 podium was lucky but the 406 at the start of the year wasn't a bad car and the main challenge to the Astras. He did well and let's hope to see him back at the front where he belongs!

It's a terirble shame for Gareth to lose his drive so clsoe to the seaosn, but the chances are that he was aware of the risk all along. As Touringlegend says, at least Dan Eaves is a proven quality driver who was too good not ot be involved, and opportunities may exist for Gareth (perhaps they can run a Peugeot for him? Those cars were really starting to get on the pace by the middle of last eyar - who knows how well they'd've done if they were works-developed from 2001)

I actually quite like the car - I'm bored of red and white cars, both the BTCC and ETCC have been full of them.
