An OBE for Sid and a Knighthood for Mick Jagger and Bobby Robson . Life is fair!!

Could somebody confirm for me whether he's got the OBE or the CBE? I've had conflicting reports. The CBE is the higher honour.
And just to be annoying now: I'm sad that he's not been given a Knighthood as I think that's what he really deserves. |

Great to see his work recognised but surely he deserves higher?

I'm going slightly off-topic now (sorry Moderators), but to explain briefly for those forum members who aren't sure of the chivalry/ranking system: the ranks in the Order are (most senior first):
Knight or Dame Grand Cross (GBE) Knight or Dame Commander (KBE or DBE) (Knight = male; Dame = Female) Commander (CBE) (not gender-specific) Officer (OBE) (not gender-specific) Member (MBE) (not gender-specific) And I still maintain that Professor Watkins deserves the KBE!!! I don't want to turn what is a celebration of his achievements into an argument, but I cannot see why a man who owns a few curry restaurants is entitled to a Knighthood when the Prof. isn't |

Thanks for that Suzy and I fully agree. To just recieve an OBE demonstrates the populist way in which the honours are awarded.

Correct...I'm a bit of a Rolling Stones fan, but in all reality, what the hell has Mick Jagger put into the world? I doubt he's saved as many lives as Sid.
