2002 Btcc Dvd
Santa was nice enough to bring the 2002 BTCC DVD Review. It's actually very good. I was wondering however, who is the driver from the in-car lap at Donington????
I'm thinking Aaron Slight or Paul O'Neill but I have no idea. |

Slightly off-topic, I picked up the 2001 BTCC season review on DVD in Virgin today for £3.99! Bargain or what ...

1- Shortshifting on *every* upshift 2- Weaving around on the straights, and braking very early. However, it could merely be a warmup lap, but I'm still curious to find out. |

Just checked my 2002 DVD and it is Thommo doing the in car lap from Donington.
I hope it is a warm up lap they filmed as if he had driven like that normally he would never have been champion that year!! |

I remember one time Thommo drove somewhere without any brakes and was shortshifting and using the gears to brake. I am sure it was before 2002 but maybe it's same thing?

Okay, I see. Thanks for the responses!
I'm not sure about Thompson never using brakes- I wouldn't really know. Do you think that's even possible? There are some great other laps from that DVD- The lap with Reid around Silverstone is outstanding, as well as the lap of Thruxton with Muller. Anyone agree? |

I was a bit disappointed that so many of the laps were with Vauxhalls. They should have had more MG. And there were no Proton or Peugeot laps.

The Proton and Peugeot laps would bring back the "There goes jacky ickx on his qualifying lap syndrome..."
"There goes Thompson on his qualifying lap...and there goes O'neal...look theres Muller...and there goes Reid aswell..." :d Just kidding. |

My only problem with the in-car laps is that some of them are not flying laps-Mondello for instance is pretty much under the safety car, for Oulton, Neal goes into the pits (but is still extremely quick), etc...
It would be nice to see more footage from the protons and peuegots, but the whole idea of a complete in-car lap for each track is really nice |

Do you mean the in-car lap that they showed prior to the racing on the ITV show? Cause I did the one from Thruxton in the TAK MG. (Before the wheel fell off)
Phoenix1, am I on the AK Vid? |

Although I do remember the spectacular footage we saw of Thompson tightening his seat belt and grip on the wheel having lost powersteering at Knockhill in 2001. |

Unfortunately when Octagon made the DVD they used a completely different set of on-boards, so it was lost. |
