2007 Roger Albert Clark Rally
I see from today's Motorsport News that the route is out for this Roger Albert Clark Rally. This years event will take place 16 – 19 November.
It will start at Elland Road in Leeds, with eligibility checks taking place on Friday afternoon/Early evening. With the real action getting underway on Saturday morning with 2 stages at Temple Newsam before moving on to the Yorkshire Forest for 6 stages, before heading over to Graystoke for a stage in the dark. Day two, the longest of the event, sees the crews start in the Forest of Ae and doing a loop of stages including the Heathall splash, before moving across country to the stages of Castle O'er and Twiglees. Crews will then tackle stages in Ash Park and Kershope in the early evening darkness before another Service Halt in Carlisle prior to tackling the last four stages of the day, again all in darkness. On Monday 19th November, the final day, the rally takes on a new format with a loop of stages in the Kielder complex and central service in Carlisle. The Kielder stages include the infamous Broomlynn stage, not used since 1995. Together with old favourites such as Roughside, before a town centre finish in Carlisle at around 15.30hrs It all looks good to me I can't wait for November to come round again. |

Oh the good old days!!! I was up at 6am this morning to get to Temple Newsam with my dad. Its over 20 years since my dad and I went to rally. Really nice to hear him say "Owe I wish I had bought the camera" to which I replied "Ive bought mine!"
Cant beat 5 pounds either for a car load of spectators. Will be there next year and hopefully Jimmy McRae will be as well. Cheers MC |

Some of the cars only did the Kall Kwik rally which ran behind the main event. I think the only did Temple Newsam once.

i was at the greystoke stages in the pouring rain last night, lots of escort action.
the thing that annoyed me was the only carpark for greystoke (past berrier) you walked to the stage and they couldnt even be bothered to open the gate to allow people in, instead you had to climb over a fence with barbed wire fence on it, they'd cut the barbed wire to allow you to pass but it was still hanging loose along the side anyway i took some pictures they are here http://www.whitewashimages.co.uk/junk/RAC |

Must be a fence problem on this years rally. The main spectating route down to the stage had the same problem at Temple Newsam. Its a good job I didnt take my granny!! On the way back they had openned the gate though!
Madcowie p.s Any results? |

There's usually a dvd - it'll probably be out in time for the Autosport and Historic Motorsport shows.

Yes, great event - one of the highlights of the year! Much as I love escorts its a bit of a shame we don't see a bit more variety of cars in historic rallying in the UK. Are there really no Volvo, Lancia, BL, Renault or Fiat fans out there?

I think it's more down to the availability of cars and parts - plenty of people supply parts for Escorts (including panels), other cars don't have that level of backup and therefore aren't as easy to run.
