Round 4: Grand Prix of Indianapolis, 8 - 10 May, 2014
An IndyCar racing clockwise at Indianapolis? Stranger things have happened, but not by much.
The course has a length of 2.439 mi (3.925 km). It has 14 corners and two very long straights. (By the way, I'd name the course like this: o- Oval corners: Foyt, Unser, Rutherford and Mears. o- Straights: Meyer and Vukovich. o- Chutes: Shaw and Rose. o- Road course corners: Andretti, Tom, Vukovich, Wardm, Jimmy, Johncock, Fittipaldi, Lionheart, etc.) |

Are the lap times now comparable* with F1 lap times from the past?
*Or not actually comparable since F1 used 3-litre V10's back then. |

Definitely should be a Tracy corner in there somewhere.
Perhaps as an official apology for the 2002 500? Not really that happy about this race, think it will dilute the legacy of the 500 even more rather than add anything. It'll just be a historical footnote in 20 years or so, not the beginning of a new tradition. |

And the generation of F1 cars at that time were the fastest things on wheels. Most F1 lap records are still from the mid 00's.

Round 4: Grand Prix of Indianapolis, 8 - 10 May, 2014
For the first time in the history of the IMS and AOWR, the speedway will host the first of two consecutive rounds, of the IndyCar series in the Month of May; the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis 500.
The Grand Prix of Indianapolis will take place on a modified layout of the circuit, previously used for the F1 United States Grand Prix, from 2000 - 2007 and currently the MotoGP Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. The race will be run clockwise, the opposite direction to the Indianapolis 500 and it will also feature a standing start. ABC are televising the race with the Green flag at 3:30pm ET. It was a nice surprise to see video on the Indycar website today for both sessions. I assume tomorrow will be the same. Unfortunately both audio feeds were cutting out - Paul Page on one, Bob Jenkins on the other.

Think they timed their laps well around intermittent rain, but it should make the race fun. A few road course experts down the field too - Wilson, Montagny and Conway having to come through the field should be fun too. Unusual to have a race on Saturday evening UK time but I'm sure there's a good reason.

Started to lose the feed at the start of the race but it looked like Saavedra stalled and there was a bit of a pile up.
