BTCC Review DVD
I bought the 2004 season review on DVD today and have to say its not, even though they miss out few key things like the Jimmy T/Neal shunt in qualifying at Knockhill and Dan Eaves problems before race 1 at Brands in August. There is not much bouns stuff on it this year but there is just about the whole of the Master Race on it which is great because until this evening I hadn't seen the TV coverage of the race.

I haven't bought it yet, but I've been really disappointed with the review tapes of the last few seasons. Hope its an improvement!

I just hope they show every overtaking move and key parts of the race, but I doubt they will show for each race more than 10 minutes (less than ITV's coverge before the live race.)

I bought it as usual, and have to say I thought it was good. The key aspects of most races are covered, although as they have to fit 30 races into 3 hours they aren't that long, but long enough for the most important bits. The Masters race coverage is good aswell, about 20 minutes.

VHS - £14.99
DVD - £19.99 IIRC. I also think Duke are planning to bring out the reviews previous to 1999 on DVD too, so better get saving those pennies! |

I would love to see some BTCC reviews from the Group A years with the Rouse and Texaco RS500's!
Would also be good to see some DTM reviews from the late 80s, early 90s. |

About £14.99 on play.com, and less still on dvdplus. No postage costs either!

Demon Tweeks in Wrexham often have some second hand videos for sale. I picked up the 1990 British F3 season review, the 1988 Lotus Euroseries and the 1991 DTM review last time!

Oh, forgot, and I found the 1989 BTCC tape! Never felt like getting the recent ones, been watching far too many supertourers recently!

I had about 4-5 consecutive year's BTCC review videos from the mid to late 80s. But I flogged them. Cheap too. |

Duke are releasing all of their back catalougue on DVD in the coming years.
Hopefully they will do a compilation of the 80's years. I've had enough of the super tourers and the current BTC cars! |

Well obviously I was born right in the thick of the era so I haven't been able to watch the races, but from one of Murray Walker's videos on the Super touring era in the late '80s and early '90s looked encredible.
Also the races must have been popular because my Mum and Dad went to a touring car race at Thruxton before I was born and they're no racing fans. |

I was quite a fan of BTCC through the mid to late 80s, mainly because I was an F3 fan (even more so) at the time, and double-headers were very common. I remember well the Rouse domination (Rover then Sierra) and then the coming of the first of the BMW shopping cars....... As far as I'm concerned, they were good times in F1. I guess I really loved those old Rovers. Took in two or three Tourist Trophies as well around that time. Great fun indeed. I'll look forward to the compilation DVD then...... |
