Tony Sugden - Skoda

Ive not been able to get to watch much racing over the last few years was interested to no what happened to Tony Sugdon and his mighty Skoda ?

Cant seem to find any results from him i take it he doesnt race any longer or has a different car or something.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject ?

I think the base was a single seater, "driftwood" on here would know if it was it has probarely been restored to single seater spec.

driftwood has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Tony S had 2 Skoda cars
1st car was actually built as an esprit for Donington GT racing with a John Leek chassis and march 762 corners gearbox from Jim Evans
power was AET turbo engine
Later the car gets a skoda body make over
MANY years later this car is race dwith achevy V8 DG300 gearbox by terry brown
car later sold off eng gbox fitted to ultima GT car skoda broken up

a second car is built for Tony and that is the car he raced for the past 15 years or more

As big andy has said, Tony has retired - about three years ago.

You may find results from before then, but it's Sugden, not Sugdon!

Although he's officiall retired, I think you'll find he's still driving the Safety / Course / Rapid Response Car for certain championships, or he was just after retiring from racing...

I didnt realise he was that old to be honest. He certainly could peddle that car around. If i had a pound for every time ive seen him race i think i would of bought the car off him with the cash lol.

Not only a great car and driver combo that i loved but the engineering that must go into building a car like that is great.
