Monaco GP 1990

I thought you may like to see a photo of one of the largest paintings I have done. It was commissioned by a client in NYC in 1991. He was building a sports/recreation room on the side of his impressive house and wanted to have original paintings of different sports stars all around the room from various artists. I guessed he did not know too much about F1 as he asked for a scene of a red Ferrari at 'that place where they race with all of the boats...I want to see the city and the boats' So Monaco it had to be! He had heard of Alain Prost so I created this ficticious scene of Monte Carlo in 1990 showing the harbour as requested. It was 6 feet x 4 feet in acrylics on canvas. As can be seen, I used a lot of artistic licence, pushing the background 'back' to appear much smaller than when actually there to get as much of the principality in the picture as possible. Not one of my favourite works although enjoyable to paint. My style has changed (and improved I hope!)since but an example of using artistic licence to meet the clients request.

Andrew

In its actual form, considering its size, it must look fantastic. Maybe it is a silly question (you said it is ficticious), but is the scene as if they were approaching
Massenet?

It looks like it to me. I also quite like that painting myself.
