BMW and Alfa Romeo in the BTCC
Does anyone know if any more BMW and Alfas are penned for entry into the BTCC?
I think its fantastic to see BMW back, they have been missed since 1996. I would love a pack of BMWs and Alfas to be scrapping amongst each other. |

Maybe for the GP support race. BMW could enter a works car but are keeping an eye on the Edenbridge car before they decide.

I think Gow could entice more ETCC BMW's if he favoured them in the weight category against the front wheel drive ETCC cars.
So if he made the rear wheel drive cars 15Kg lighter than the current ETCC rules allow, more BMWs might make the transition. |

I don't think he'd be wise messing about with the weight regs (FWD vs RWD of course) as it works in the ETCC well enough, no point in favoritism - it only results in many arguments and eventual withdrawal from manufacturers.
As ATF says, the GP round is probably the best chance of seeing some works ETCC Beemers and Alfas. |

I believe the ETCC rules do not distinguish between RWD and FWD when it comes to weights. This is clearly to keep BMW sweet, as RWD is a blatant advantage.
As the BTCC is supposed to allow ETCC-spec cars, I think it's only fair to adopt the same principle - even if it's nuts. |

Not so. ETCC rules are 1110kg for FWD, 1140kg for RWD, plus 30kg if using a sequential gearbox.

Hence BMW and Alfa are on the same footing when it comes to weight.
