Historic Sportscar Racing GT2 - Round 3 - GVR - (Race 2 results too)
Welcome another running of the Historic Sportscar Racing Series for the GT2 platform. This series is in its seventh season, and has been my favourite GT2 series. The cars are incredibly competitive and we have been lucky enough to have some of the best drivers, and closest competition around.
Many drivers in the past have chosen to drive multiple cars, with multiple nicks. Feel free to do so here, but just clearly mark what your alter-nick?will be so nobody is confused. Perhaps GT4 will see the historic cars added again, and hopefully with an even greater selection Past Champions Season 1 - Soccerboy - Datsun 240Z Season 2 - Fogelhund - Lotus Europa Season 3 - Didi - Lotus Elan Season 4- Fogelhund - Camaro Season 5 - Didi - Lotus Elan Season 6 - Fogelhund - Camaro The Racing prepared Class Rover Mini 1275 Mark 1 1964 Lotus Elan S2 71' Datsun/Nissan 240Z Lancia Stratos Lotus Europa 83' Mazda RX-7 GT-Turbo 86' Toyota MR2 1600G-Limited 71' Nissan Skyline 68' Toyota 2000GT Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 66' Shelby GT350 69 Camaro Z28 67' Corvette Stingray 82' Corvette Stingray 71' Lotus Elan S4 Note The administrative staff reserves the rights to modify options available on the cars should certain marques be too far ahead, or behind the other cars. There is no limit to the number of drivers choosing the same car General Guidelines and Rules We expect everybody to race cleanly, and within regular OLR guidelines. The series, including any protests or time inquiries is being run under granturismo.com race guidelines. If you are not familiar with these, please read the OLR FAQ at granturismo.com http://forum.granturismo.com/showth...?threadid=46235 Lack of knowledge of rules is not an excuse to break them. While this is not a dex certified series, you should be prepared to defend your times with a detailed RTI (I'll give you a format), and in extreme cases, we might require some type of save. While I would like to believe that everybody is honest, a select few have proved me wrong. I generally run most of the cars at each track that is run, and have a pretty good idea of what is possible. I would not recommend trying to pull a fast one here, you will be spotted. There will be random requests for a detailed RTI, or dex save. The placements of these random RTI will be determined before the start of each race. I am looking for a couple of volunteers who are PAL users, who can check DEX saves, for those who prefer DEX over RTI. Save your runs I would highly recommend that you always save your fastest runs, so that you can provide details later on. You must have two wheels on something paved at all times. This includes the curbs, rumbles strips and the two paved sections on the inside of the curbs at Rome Night. For the purpose of this series, if you can see more than two wheels off the track from the above replay view, the time is invalid. ANY touch of any wall, guardrail, building.. regardless of how hard will rule a time invalid. Note: Grand Valley REVERSE
The Big'un track from down under is a long time favourite of many a driver. The long straights do place a premium on power cars, so look to see a few new faces fighting in the attempt to remove the Mini of Pumpkin Head from that top rung on the ladder. The one to watch this week will be krtlex with the Big Block 67' Corvette, making a big charge from the top of the track, down the hill, and into the final straight. HareTurtle with the 69' Camaro will also be using some American Muscle down the straights. After a disappointing result at Apricot Hill, we expect GTV27 to rebound back with a strong showing in the Shelby GT350. Not to be forgotten, Fogelhund in the another of the Camaro's will be working hard to overcome the 371hp his car is running with. Good Luck folks, and enjoy LM. |

I _hate_ this track. It's looking like I might have to pull out of the championship anyhow, I've got an insane workload at uni for the next 5 weeks. |

Lee I hope that you don't pull out, but I certainly do appreciate that there are more important things then racing Granturismo. If this has to do at all with disappointment about the result, take a hard look how you did. You appear to have been 4th until the final chicane, and just didn't go in hard enough. Live a little, learn a little.
I hope you stay, but we'll see you in the next round if not. Good Luck either way. On track, first to track is the Starlet, 49.5 Sector 2. |

Actually, it was the approach to the chicane. I had massive understeer going into that left-hander right before the chicane, and I had to tap the brakes to unsettle the car. I was giving ten-tenths thru the chicane itself.
I'll probably keep entering, but I won't be able to really work to cut down my times with practice. |

I know what you mean Lee. The last couple of weeks haven't been too bad, but by R4 I'll have open exams to do, so won't be able to put the track time in unless I stay up really late (um, there's an idea!). What are you studying by the way?
I'd like to thank Fogelhund for his (suspension) set-up advice this week, without which I wouldn't have been as high up the list. Cheers! |

I'm a journalism major, studying at Kent State University. I'm just trying to finish up some electives over the summer... 9 credit hours in 5 weeks (12 credits would be considered full-time in a 16-week session, so this is rather intense).
Yourself? |

Wow, a fair old amount then!
I'm a History undergraduate in my second year. This term hasn't - on the whole - been too bad, but I've got a strange 2 week open exam starting Friday. I'm still trying to work out how to fit the GT2ing in! I had a look at your sector times - it's a shame about sector 4 as the other three were really good. Hmm, I've never had exams like that.
Yeah, well, that's the downside of this sort of "racing"... With other cars on the track, I'd have been fast around the rest of the course, passes a bunch of people going thru few turns, then waited for the leaders to catch up to the backmarkers... Overtaking's one of my best strengths, I've always been weak on qualifying. Oh well... This is still fun. |

Team GTV best sector two times so far:
GTV26 in 67 Vette 49.721 GTV28 in Z28 Camaro 49.134 GTV27 in GT350 Mustang 49.007 Rocket - don't know how you got such a great terminal speed out of your Mustang - I'm maxed out at 145mph - which will probably show once full lap times are revealed |

Yeah, the first corner off the straight is a bit hairy - had a couple of wild rides across the grass on the right hand side (which of course screws the lap).
Am also having trouble carrying any sort of decent pace in the right hander between the tunnels (ie where GV East deviates). Must be losing heaps of time there. |

Oh, the right-hander there is awful. The Stingray is bad through the previous left-hander as well. Have got both down to 49.2, though as your times suggest GTV, that seems to indicate I'm not making the most of the Shelby - it should be quicker than the Stingray up to there. The Stingray absolutely blows the Mustang away in the final sector. Until then, I've found them quite close.

Rennsport Addict has been fully frustrated by the lack of power and the unique handling characteristics of the Europa. Stints in the grass in the first left sweeper, and sudden changes of direction in just about every other corner are some of the treats of this fine car. The most frustrating corner is the s bend on the way down the hill to final chicane. On numerous great laps, the car has suddenly just jumped onto the grass on the left side of the track. Bloody Brilliant I tell you.
Then all of the sudden. 48.4 @ 150.11 mph. I can only hope that Stingray krt is talking about doesn't blow my doors off down the final straight. Last edited by Fogelhund; 14 Jun 2003 at 04:31. |

Pumpkin Head gets the Mini moving fairly well. Sector 2 of 48.3 @ 144 mph, with some room left for improvement.

I've FINALLY done a decent lap with the Mustang, having played a bit more with the suspension settings. Did a 48.6 and the rest of the lap wasn't too bad. Still can't get on terms with the Stingray though, even though its handling is still far from sorted. Maximum Speed with the Stingray is about 268km/h ish - what's that in mph?
Wouldn't worry too much Fogelhund - the Stingray doesn't like the hairpin out of the tunnel, or the last corner, very much. It always feels like I have to wait ages to get on the power! |

krt - my stingray is doing exactly the same things - but is faster than the mustang overall (even through it FEELS TERRIBLE to drive) - it really monsters the 'stang over the second half (despite being a bag of sh!t into and out of the hairpins).

I guess that's the handicap of a having all the power for the end of the lap. Mind you, the Shelby with that amount of power would still be a lot better!
I can't put alll my best splits together in the Stingray. I'm either a bit off in the first sector, or do a decent job through there and somehow lose it in the second half of the lap - grrrrrr! |
