Ramblings about forums
Ramblings about forum progressions in the 2008 GP2 Two Worlds Prediction Competition:
Ten-Tenths: Ten-Tenthers finally did it againg in the Forum Championship! The core forum of F3000/GP2 TWPC could this time due to the knowledge, most centered interest and, despite the handicap of only scoring five best forumers on a round, pitching thanks to its massive number of concursants. SALEEN S7R was the best of the group, but is to note that also GroupOfOne, Bleu, sauber11, Adri_tifosi and kerrmanningjarv entered in the Top Ten, is to note that almost first ten were Ten-Tenthers... Los Tuercas: On first year with no Argentinian presence at all, this forum didn't have the strenght of previous seasons... Even with this they manage to have a base of around 9-10 concursants and ensure the vicechampionship. nano de turdera was the highest scorer of them, followed by sebastiangh, and is to note that they won two rounds with three different users. Great thanks for Los Tuercas for all the attention to the Competition done all over the year. GlobalF1: On a solid pack of around five forumers, their abilities made them to pursue again the 3rd in the championship. The handicap system of "the forum score with their five best" put them nearer to dominant Ten-Tenths and Los Tuercas forums, but wasn't enough to reach them. Nonetheless, they still were very effective in the predictions, and have the Champion, SpiritCrusher, with them! It's a pleasure that GlobalF1 could still show this rhythm on their picks. ClubF1: The rookie forum did an excellent debut on the Competition, with good acceptation. Their regular bunch of around four members did a constant battle against F1-Live for fourth place during all season, and they finally got it! Sidney Watkins was their best representant, and Crackissimo did great winning last two rounds. F1-Live: This year, the forum of this popular website put more interest into the Competition, partially thanks to a sister F1 contest made there. Were in concursants for both Spanish and English forums, who had some consistency and could battle ClubF1 for the fourth place of the Forums Champ. Cuervitti, a refugée from another place was the best scorer, and is to note that Zonked did the highest score in a round, at Hockenheim. F1Latam: Perhaps due to no presence of Latin American (aside Brazilians) drivers aside Pastor Maldonado, this forum had some flaws in relation to previous seasons. Nonetheless, the two (later three, with the inclusion of Ruth) were very loyal through the season an helped a lot to mantain a secure 6th. TOLEMAN HART used consistency to be their best scorer, and Ruth herself won a round at Spa. Thef1.com Actuality forum: Another year with tiny presence, strange in a forum from a country having three teams and many Spanish drivers on the series. (Concursants) Once more, Thef1 showed technical problems on a few rounds, but were still capable to go ahead. [b]melendi was the best of the tiny pack of two users who entered during all year. Were in concursants for both Spanish and English forums, who had some consistency and could battle ClubF1 for the fourth place of the Forums Champ, even when they miss it by that much. Thef1.com Actuality forum: Another year with tiny presence, strange in a forum from a country having three teams and many Spanish drivers on the series. melendi was the best of the tiny pack of two users who entered during all year, or almost. Velocidad-TotalF1: Well, this forum has the saddest note of all, because their principal, Sammyed, had important situations to cope and, to make things worse, their servers tend to put the forum down, permanently since last May. Then I decide myself to represent them alone, as an hommage to the interest they showed in GP2, and to remember that community. Not a surprise that I went the best scorer of that forum, and great thanks to Quique and Titrisol who could enter at first two rounds. In an aftermath, the season was emotional in many aspect, with the accustomed lottery in some results, and the Competition had success to survive on Spanish Latin-American forums despite the almost no presence of locals there, mostly when TV only was ensured at the second half of the year for their viewers. Hope CVC will take note about it, in order to ensure to pack GP2 along F1 in order to help them in the promotion everywhere, as they do with MotoGP, 250cc and 125cc World Motorcycle champs. Ten-Tenths, Los Tuercas and GlobalF1 are still the "three greats" and are ensured to continue, along ClubF1 and F1-Live; the rest will be put in consideration. Alas, now is one slot free avaliable for new forums to join - If you are in a forum where is interest on GP2 Series and want our Prediction Competition running there, give notice to us! On a last note, the handicap imposed on Forums Championship (on each round, a forum would scored only with five best scorers of their users) helped a while to put forums with lest concursants nearer to the greatest ones, but due to numeric superiority, the dominants had more chances to had high scores and then could win in any way. It's possible to enforce to strenght the handicap to best four to help smaller forums, but it's important to note that quantity is still important. We'll consider to do GP2 Asia Prediction Competition again, probably at Ten-Tenths and GlobalF1, but have to ensure if the rest of the forums could be interested or not to be in, because it will run in the winter time (summer for these of Southern Hemisphere), when F1 world is normally in the inter-season. |

Not a bad result for me though I was leading for a long time in early season, so a bit disappointing then.
Interesting feature could be if you could follow championship predictions round by round. As an example, championship standings after Monaco looked like this: 1. Senna 2. Pantano 3. Grosjean 4. Parente 5. Buemi 6. Zuber 7. Petrov 8. Maldonado Well, seven names who were there in the final standings as well, but only Petrov was in same position. I mean that championship predictions could be looked that those who picked Senna to win are getting points for it etc. |

Mekola, you really do perform an excellent job on this, please may that continue!
Whilst this is open to many forums around the world, I can safely say on behalf of 10 Tenths that we really enjoy it. However few points of my own: 1/ This year was incredibly difficult to predict because of the incidents, inconsistent form of drivers, drivers perhaps not getting on with the new cars. and unreliability issues (all resolved next year if Bradrive's earlier info is correct) 2/ I didn't manage to win a single round (PAH!!!!) and i seem to be going 'backwards' year on year. Oops. 3/ To assist Mekola in the Asia and full series next year we will see if he needs help starting the predictions threads etc.. if he is very busy to take some of the pessure of of him!! If you need help just ask Ok Mekola? |

I completely blame Filippi for my 34th in the standings - I kept predicting him and he never delivered :P
Never mind, third in predicting the overall standings is pretty good. Great work Mekola, as ever - long may it continue |

First of all a big thanks to Mekola, chunterer and everyone else involved in running the competition. Great job guys
I must say I'm quite pleased with my season. No spectacular results, just good old consistency - something which I lacked last year. After two learning years, I'm going all out for the title next season! |
