Donington Park Revision.

Donington Park....

I've decided to bring back some more speed in this revision. Coppice has been widened and the radius has been increased, giving it a perfect straight into Melbourne. Pit entrance and exit have been moved, the entrance starting with the last corner, and the exit merging just after Red Gate. Now for the fun stuff. The Craner Curves have been left untouched, however, the 'Old Hairpin' has now been made into an actual hairpin, exiting just after the old bridge. The run to McLean's has been slowed a little bit with the hairpin, but remains unchanged. Two Club circuits are now part of the package. The first uses The Hairpin as the entry to it, and exiting about a quarter down the front straight, but a large radius right makes the front strech speeds higher than on the GP circuit. The second is pretty much the same as the old National Circuit, but the switchback is more of a corner complex now, than just a chicane.

I like the way you've put a straight run into melbourne, it's what i would do too, but i don't really like what you've done to the old hairpin, it's too tight now and ruins the flow of the top section of track IMO

IIRC, there were official plans similar to this one, but the pits straight moving to your Shield Straight.

The pit was to have begun before the entrance to McLeans and run all the way around the inside of Copice and down the back straight.

the track just doesn't feel right. (I might sound like a complete nutter but thats what I think).

IMO you didn't need to push Coppice out, as shown below. Plus, even though the Old Hairpin did use to be tighter, it's best to leave it alone - it's a great corner as it is

What I've done is just made a new straight joining the exit of Coppice bypassing the Foggarty Esses) which I've kept for the bikes and other events which may want to use it. I also thought about moving Melbourne to keep it in line with the straight, but decided for now to keep it like this. It's a bit rushed, though, but maybe something like this could help to bring F1 back here, even. After all, they've just had a new pits and paddock. It just needs a little widening if it was to come back, as the 93 race showed

Helicon_One should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Thought I'd take a quick shot at this myself. I decided that significantly changing anything other than the new Melbourne Loop would be heresy, so I extended that section, moving the pits to a new larger space and bringing in some of the longer run down to Melbourne from the old pre-war track.

IMO the track is best left alone.

Jab, I like your version. My idea would be to change the Starkey's Straight-Fogarty Esses section into an almost straight S at 2/3 into the current Starkey's straight that moves into your straight at the location of the current Fogarty Esses.
But in fact, I like the current circuit very much.

I do really like Jab's version & if I was starting from scratch again I might do something like in Helicon's edit, but I feel that it is a bit too drastic for what is already a good track, though I do like it a lot!
