Your ever friendly and thirsty snapper (me...) is working out his route to Snett for the first ever time and it's going to be the debut for the Le Mans tent and sleeping bag.

Entries are filling up fast and with the closing date just over a week away those who haven't entered should get their entries in quick!

I just hope that the weather is better than last year!

I'll be there hopefully, but not with you lot, I'm out in the CTCRC Pre-93's look forward to touching base with you guys again should be a good meeting (apart from the radicals, sorry in advance any radical driver but find the races too long to hold interest). BTW Graham and co watch that bloody Snett straight it takes no prisoners I have lunched three engines there so far :-(

I've never been to Snetterton what's it like? Anyone know how it compares to Goodwood? What are average class D lap times?

Results from last years round can be found below, please beware that race 1 was damp and race 2 the cars swam round rather than drove.

its difficult to compair goodwood and snett lap times because you can only sprint at goodwood, but the long straight at snett is only about half the length of lavant straight at snett, a good class D car with sensable gearing will probably get to about 130mph at snett

Just found out that Goodwood is 1/2 a mile longer, for some reason I thought they were both similar length,I've tested at Goodwood so have done flying laps there. As the straights are shorter I may have to rethink my diff ratio

Unless there is a tail wind.I always geared my Mini on the tall side for Snett it would pull 7800rpms in top down the straight but on a day with a tail wind it would see high 8s

Well it wer'nt last weekend! Actually all the drama pictures with oil smokefrom 2007 was down to a silly mistake by me not noticing the valve covers were snagging the inlet manifold however that engine did expire at Combe and I was a bit surpised to say the least but it has expired now but was not much of an engine and I have a replacement under way.

This one in the Video in the black car at Snet was as a direct result of the engine builder not following my specific instructions and fitting an unbaffled drag race type sump whereas he told me he had put extra baffles in, he had'nt and I fitted a sticker tyre the oil climbed out the sump around Coram and locked up a bigend, snapped the conrod clean in two and spate it out through the sump. In fact I have just finished rebuilding it with a proper sump and will be installing it this afternoon, fingers crossed. Got some grunt though ain't it the camera car was a BMW 320!

Drifting a bit off-topic here, but... what sump are you now going to be running on your Chevy, Al?
