Formula 1 2015 Time Capsule
In this thread, you put your 2015 predictions.
It's time to assess the form guide and put in your predictions, be they realistic or ridiculous. On the eve of Melbourne Friday practice, the thread is closed and reopened after the season so we can see how many miles off we were and peel the egg off our faces. Try to make them quantifiable predictions, e.g. 'Force India will score under 50 points' is good but 'Force India will do well' isn't. Things I actually somehow predict: 1. Williams will win at least one Grand Prix. 2. Lewis Hamilton will become a triple world champion. 3. Ferrari will win exactly one Grand Prix. 4. Max Verstappen will finish on the podium. 5. Mekola's thread about how he shouldn't be in Formula 1 will be dragged up if does. 6. A driver will be replaced at some stage of the year (it has always happened.) 7. Sauber and Lotus will both score more than twice as many points as last year. My "what are you thinking?" predictions. 7. McLaren will win a Grand Prix. 8. There will be at least six winning drivers. Have fun. Last edited by Born Racer; 2 Mar 2015 at 10:47. |

My bound to be wrong predictions are:
1) Mercedes will win the constructors title by over 100 points. 2) Hamilton will be drivers champion. 3) Ferrari won't win a race. 4) Maldonado will have at least one stupid accident. 5) McLaren will finish no higher than 5th in the constructors championship. On the whole nothing earth shattering there - should be a good season though as behind Mercedes it's looking quite tight with Williams, Red Bull and Ferrari as the chasing pack with Lotus, Sauber, Force India and Torro Rosso nicely bunched for a scrap as well. Leaving Manor trailing badly and McLaren who knows where (probably sat in the garage not working based on the evidence of testing ). |

1. Vettel will win no races.
2. Mercedes will win > 70% of all races. 3. Alonso will retire before the season ends. 4. Raikkonen will provide at least one "I don't give a..." TV gem 5. One of the STR drivers will get a surprise podium in Monaco. |

I'll start of with some safe ones, and get progressively more sketchy:-
1. Hamilton WDC after a season long fight with his teammate, with tempers even more badly frayed than last season. 2. Ricciardo' s stock rises even higher - he is the only non-Mercedes powered driver to win a race. 3. Massa gets one win. 4. Sauber beat STR in the WCC. 5. McLaren do not get a podium all season long. 6. Maldonado gets a podium late in the season. 7. Manor get a 10th place finish in a bizarre high attrition race. |

1 Rosberg WDC - sewn up by 2/3 of the way through the year.
2 Kimi jacks it it/replaced before season's end. 3 Alonso leaves McLaren before season's end (season's started?!). 4 Magnussen outpaces Button (again). 5 Only 5 different drivers win a race. 6 Max V and Carlos Jnr are even stevens (but both clear of Will). 7 Torro Rosso come out on top of battle with Sauber, Force India and snap at heels of Williams for 4th best team. |

1. Hamilton takes WDC in second last race from Rosberg.
2. Bottas wins at least 1 race with at least 5 podiums 3. Massa get a couple of Podiums 4. Ricciardo gets 3 wins over the season 5. Honda come good as the season goes on with a McLaren getting a late season podium 6. Alonso after missing Aus requires another race off later in the season for medical reasons. 7. Sauber to be regular top 5 finishers during the early season dropping to regular 7/8th as McHonda improve. |

1. The coverage on Foxtel here in Australia will be a lot better than the usual free to air
2. Mercedes Petronas Hybrid will be constructor champs 3. Nico will be champion 4. Williams Martini will win a few races (More for Bottas rather than Massa but will be in the pointy end) 5. Ferrari will struggle 6. Red Bull will be strong for high downforce tracks, but struggle for speed. They may change from Renault to either Mercedes or Honda 7. Manor-Marussia will only last a few rounds, if not at all. They are the next Super Agrui. 8. Renault will see a pull out by the end of the year. Failing that, a possible buy out of Toro Rosso. 9. Alonso after putting his feet up will get rid of his man growth. |

Here's my go:
1 - The finale will be a 2 horse race at the final hurdle between Hamilton and Rosberg 2 - Ricciardo, Williams and the Ferrari boys will battle out for 3rd 3 - Bottas claims a maiden GP win at Silverstone 4 - Vettel wins at Singapore. Because that's what he does. 5 - Monaco will see no less than 4 safety cars for various reasons 6 - Felipe Nasr will get a podium in the best race of the season 7 - Rosberg and Hamilton will get involved in a brawl somewhere 8 - Maldonado will cause no less than 6 avoidable incidents and in one of them will blame a bird. 9 - The TV feed of the Monaco GP will feature over 25 slow-mo shots of the Swimming Pool chicane within any given 10 lap period (largely down to having to fill up TV screens with something during the endless safety car periods) 10 - Magnussen will get a 2016 McLaren seat alongside Stoffel Vandoorne as McLaren yet again blame an immaculate driver pairing for their issues, ignoring the fact that that is the one aspect of the team to have remained world class over the last 2/3 seasons |

Mercedes to win both championships.
There will be at least one new GP winner. There will be no German GP for the first time since 1960. One of the current teams will not make it to the end of the season. There will be some really close racing behind the Mercedes cars with many results unpredictable until the last few laps. The Mercedes drivers will again be in a close fight (in more ways than one) for the championship. |

Hamilton will win the championship by a canter.
Ricciardo will nick in a couple of wins. Talking point will be Alonso's robust performance in a poor car. Button will honourably retire at the end of the season. No wins for either. Williams will collect podiums but won't win. Raikkonen will be edged by Vettel in the final standings but not by much. Kimi will then retire. Vettel might sneak in a win. Verstappen will just edge out Sainz in the final standings. Lotus will have a poor year with a few lucky podiums. Force India will mirror their performance more or less. |

1. Williams will win at least one Grand Prix.Still waiting
2. Lewis Hamilton will become a triple world champion.Right 3. Ferrari will win exactly one Grand Prix.Wrong 4. Max Verstappen will finish on the podium. He did well, but wrong. 5. Mekola's thread about how he shouldn't be in Formula 1 will be dragged up if does. Steve, where are you? 6. A driver will be replaced at some stage of the year (it has always happened.) Right, with Merhi. 7. Sauber and Lotus will both score more than twice as many points as last year. 80 versus 10 for Lotus and 36 versus 0 for Sauber, so right. My "what are you thinking?" predictions. 7. McLaren will win a Grand Prix. What were you thinking? 8. There will be at least six winning drivers.Just half that. |
