Will this car run in (almost) the same specifications as the Monaro from Down Under?
At first I was not very posititve about this car (it's a Australian version of the Opel Calibra ), but after I saw it several time on Motors TV I am about this car. Last edited by FIRE; 31 Mar 2004 at 18:05. |

Australian version of the Opel Calibra??!!?? FIRE, the Monaro is a reborn 1960's Australian motoring icon!! I would hardly call it a version of the Calibra (which were imported by Holden to Australia in the early 1990's.)
What are the regs for the Brit GT Champ? They must be pretty liberal if they are allowing the Monaro to run in Australian Nations Cup form! |

Is this a brand new car, or the ex-#427 Yellow Monaro from GRM?
Big Mac - If we believe some of the stories going around when the project first came out, the car should be quicker than the Nations Cup Monaro. They were talking shedding 200kg's off it, better brakes, better aerodynamics etc.... Should be good to see how it goes. Last edited by racer69; 1 Apr 2004 at 07:54. |

Any pics of this car as yet ?
I'd be pretty interested to see what actual car it is. As far as Im aware Nathan Pretty's yellow Monaro and Peter brock's red one are both still in this country , but I could be wrong |

The car was built new by Greg Stevenson at the Monaro performance centre in Melbourne. It uses a 5.7l version of the Gen III, holinger sequential box and the GRM developed aero package. Don't know if it uses the same harrop suspension as the GRM Monaros.

The road-going version of this car in the USA is the revival of the Pontiac GTO... The street version has a 350 hp. V-8...I think it's a 5.7 L.... But to me, a "Goat" (as we called the 1960s torque beasts under the same nameplate) should look more "muscle-bound" than the Monaro's chassis does... Too much "Family Sedan-Like" blood in it to be a "GTO" revival... But in the Aussie V-8 Supercars, these cars really fly....they're fun to watch...and I bet they sound great in person!!!! I've always thoved the baritone growl of a decent-sized V-8...... |

The Monaro is now on the Mondello entry list, making 10 in N-GT (11 of the Ultima arrives), 17 in Cup (can I say dailysportscar.com Cup?).

Having had a good look at the car at the opening round at Donnington a couple of weeks ago I have to say it does look stunning. I can not wait to see on the track later in the year.
