A photographic essay of Thursday at the Grand Prix
Following on from some my previous threads, I have some photos of my first day at the Australian Grand Prix:

We stumbled on the tailend of the Minardi launch, and I managed a nice shot:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ursday0019.jpg Now, I think the bloke on the right is Patrick Freisacher, but I'm not entirely sure Paul Stoddart isn't the favourite person for some on this board, but he always has time for his Australian fans. My brother in law took a nice shot of him and myself, but I don't have that photo just yet, so you'll have to make do with him by himself: Minardi's team principal, Paul Stoddart Last edited by Adam43; 3 Mar 2005 at 10:52. Back to the Grandstand for lunch, and a gander at the ultimate speed comparison. For those that don't know, this was Antonio Pizzonia's Williams-BMW up against Steve Richards' V8 Supercar and a BMW road car driven by Will Davison.
I was quick enough to get a shot of Pizzonia laying rubber and streaking away: Antonio Pizzonia The V8 and the F1 cars were handicapped, but Pizzonia still finished first (only just, though). The Formula 3 cars were back out for their qualifying session, but they still started on the grid, so I was able to get another nice set of shots of them taking off: On the grid Blasting away A couple of stragglers |

After the Formula 3 cars were done, we took another trip around the circuit, and I ended up at the pitlane exit behind the track. I had been there last year, and had managed to snag a lot of good autographs from the drivers, and I was hoping for more of the same - particularly from Jacques Villeneuve. As a huge fan of him, I had some memorabilia on me that I would have loved to have him sign, only to find out that he had already gone through several hours before and was inside the pit paddock doing whatever it was Sauber had him doing.
I waited a couple of hours for drivers to emerge, but they weren't in a mood for signing autographs. Apart from Franck Montagny and V8 Supercar driver, Greg Murphy, none of the drivers seemed willing to take the time out to sign a few autographs. Kimi Raikkonen simply drove past, while Fernando Alonso scuttled past, only to run in to some other fans and had to sign their autographs. In the meantime, several Japanese made it clear where their loyalties lay: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ursday0034.jpg A bloke had been carrying that for hours in the afternoon on a flag pole. Can you believe it?! Here's another one they had taken the time to make: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ursday0035.jpg I finish off with a slightly blurred (because I had accidentally put a thumbprint on my camera) shot of Sir Stirling Moss: Sir Stirling Last edited by Adam43; 3 Mar 2005 at 11:08. I've seen a few photos of the guys in the past few days - but are McLaren looking for a bit of an image change or what?
What with the 'Lets get the laughs going' attitude of Ron Dennis - the exotic red trim on the black driver's jackets - and finally the personell's team t-shirts that look like children's 'rash vests' for swimming. It's different, i'd give it that. Nice shots btw - manage to say anything to Newey? |

Sorry for thumping him with my bag as I didn't realise that he was standing right behind me. :8

I am absolutely knackered after a 12 hour day at the Grand Prix, but I have about 200 photos to go through (the wonder of digital photography!) of the drivers and their cars going through their paces in the first and second practice sessions.

Great photo's very clear - shame about those shirts tho', they look like something my mother used to to pull out of the washing machine back in the 70's after a tie-dye session.
