In Montreal Jos had his helmet specially painted to support Den Oranj. He came fifth.

Today he changed back to his old helmet. He was invisible.

I think perhaps he should try the Oranj one next time. Just to see what happens.

Is this the place for a helmet joke, or are we running thin on the ground with those???

Although in this particular case, I would ask Diabando...

P.S JOS! Pull your boots up boy! Gene was only 2 tenths slower than you in qualifying...

As a matter of fact, Tom Walkinshaw insisted on wearing the orange helmet, but Jos promised to only wear it as long as the Dutch soccer team were in the championships.
As soon as they were kicked out of it he changed to his old design.
There are several reasons for his bad results in France.
He doesn't like Magny Course at all, he couldn't find the right setup for the car and I think he hasn't been cured enough from his crash a week earlier.

Mhhh.....about Jos...I found this at formula1.com. he he he

quote:
----------------------------------------------------------
When Jos Verstappen tried to enter Magny-Cours for free practice on Friday morning, he was shocked to find that the pass machines would not permit him to enter. All that happened when he tried to put his pass through the machines was a message flashing up saying "Access denied: No admission to losers."
Dutch TV crews also experienced the same puzzling events but, happily it was just the powers-that-be having a little joke at their national soccer team's expense. The Dutch were knocked out of the Euro 2000 competition by Italy in the semi-finals, and the message may have been in jest but only served to heighten their disappointment.

Verstappen had even gone so far as to change his helmet design to orange in support of the football team during the Canadian Grand Prix. However he was sporting his old maroon and silver design in France having decided the other lid was not lucky enough.
------------------------------------------------------------

hey!! How about that!! 100 posts! Not bad for a guy that was a rookie a couple of weeks ago.

Well, what is really de-moralizing for me is that I recall seeing you with less than 1500 posts....so that would mean that in the time that you have posted over ove 200 posts I have just achieved 100....However...as soon as I loose this modem connection and get myself a cable modem I will be living here and posting every second....but until I can figure out a way to earn 60 dollars a month without doing anything....say...you guys don't happen have 60 bucks to spare??

$60? I pay about twenty less then that for my "Rogers at Home"! Free installation to. This page loads so fast.

What was this thread about... Um... Oh ya... Bring back the Orange Helmut, it looks half descent and it can’t be bad for sponsors.

I've completely forgotten what Verstappen's Montreal helmet looked like. But at Silverstone testing this week his usual helmet looked coooool.

Mhhh....this "lucky" helmet topic reminds me of the story of Alberto Ascari and his helmet....quite tragic.

Well. It appeared in an article at ITV-f1.com a couple of months ago. It seems that Ascari always raced with the same helmet...not the disign but the same helmet that he always used. He never used another helmet but one day he was a demostration race and he had to ask someone to lend him his helmet. He did 3 laps, crashed and died. Pretty tragic ah?

The story 'bout Ascari and the helmet, was that way:

Ascari went to Monza to watch Castellotti's tests in the Ferrari they would share a few days later on the Supercortemaggiore G.P.

Ascari was advised to rest completely for a few days, after his crash during the Monaco G.P.

Back in the pits, after a lunch in the paddock restaurant with Eugenio, Luigi Villoresi, mechanics and engineers, Alberto expressed his wish to run a few laps...

Not intending to drive, Alberto had left his own light blue crash helmet at home. What would be the astonishment of Villoresi seeing Alberto buckling on Castellotti's white helmet. Alberto was an intensely superstitious man, and his own helmet was for him a lucky charm.... on the third testing lap he crashed inexplicably...
