Time again to test your skills in the annual Ten-Tenths IRL "Pick 'Em" Contest!

As you'll see below, I will make you think...This isn't a "Pole Winner" and "Pick Five" gig...

Give it a shot...People who have done it in the past have enjoyed it.

Milka Duno isn't even "officially" entered into the race,
NaBUru38...

She probably will be there, but it is much better to wait until the "OFFICIAL Entry List" comes out...

This type of contest makes you consider pit strategy (Milestones), how many yellow flags there might be (average race speed), and on courses where they have raced before, you have to look into how fast the track is, who has a history of runnign well there from past seasons, etc.

This isn't long...once you get the feel for it, you can do it fairly quickly and you'll get good at it.

New circuits like this are a crapshoot, because no one knows what the speeds will be for a fast lap or whatever...

At least with Barber there will be a ballpark based on testing speeds

Contest is closed...

The IRL's Live Timing & Scoring system doesn't show speeds this year, so I'm going to probably have to wait for the PDFs to get the speeds from each session (sigh)

Why do they have to change their damn system every year?

Not to worry...

They list the speeds in the Session results section of the site for each event.

Whew!!!

As a backup, a guy over at Trackforum gave me a link to a time, speed and distance calculator link.

Pretty cool

Yep...

I do hope that they can square things away...Quals may be postponed until tomorrow a.m. so they can grind the concrete and get bumps out of corners.

I had to wait for the PDFs on the IndyCar site to come up in order to get your results together that would have the correct stats for the sessions.

Here are your Quals results...race results will come tonight...

On the Pole Winner, marcostraz got 2 pts for Dario

The Closest pole Speed was dewdawg: Actual-104.058 drew-104.012 (nice pick on a new course!)

Fast Qual Lap driver earned Daisy and drewdawg 2 pts each...Power was the quick one in all sessions

drew was also closest to the fast speed: Actual-104.335 drew-105.000

He got two points for each plude the "Bonuse 2 pts." for getting both correct!

In the "Top Three Rows," marcostraz had 6 pts with two correct; naBU, Daisy and drew had 4 pts. each; Always first had 3 pts. and NAC had 2 pts. naBU, marcostraz and Daisy also picked TK in the correct spot.

Everyone but NAC had Duno for the slow qualifier...I would have given 1 pt. for Moraes, since he didn't set a time (I'm generous), but no one picked him

Daisy was closest to the Slow Speed: Actual-95.094 Daisy-98.937

On the "Just Miss," Alwaysfirst had Dixon for 2 pts. and naBU, Yannick, drew and NAC all got 1 pt. each for picking a driver in the Top Six for this selection.

Results after Quals as I await the IRL's official race stat sheets:

1. Drewdawg - 15 pts.
2. marcostraz - 10 pts.
3. Daisy - 8 pts.
4. Alwaysfirst - 7 pts.
(tie) naBU - 7 pts.
6. Yannick - 6 pts.
7. NAC - 3 pts.

As Notes, I'll post final results for the weekend later this evening, once the IRL publishes its official results.

Here are your race results:

Alwaysfirst had Will Power for the win for 2 pts.

in the "Top Five," marcostraz, Yannick and Alwaysfirst had 2 pts. each and all others had 1 pt..(no one picked Meira or Matos)

naBUru38, marcostraz Daisy & drew all had Power for the Fast Lap for 2 pts.

Drew was also closest to the speed: Actual-103.523 drew-100.163

Since he picked both, he also got the 2 pt. "Bonus" (which he hit twice in the contest this weekend!)

in "Milestones," marcostraz and Alwaysfirst got 2 pts each...tough one to score this time around, since no one could figure fuel windows, etc.

On 1st Out, no one had Moraes, but naBUru38, Daisy, and NAC all picked drivers who had DNFs for 1 pt. each

No one had Meira or Wheldon for the "Mover" (both climbed 13 spots)

No one had Tagliani for the "Fall" (dropped 19 spots)

drew also was closest to the to the avg. speed: Actual-76.733 drew-75.167

Results of Sao Paulo "Pick 'Em" Contest:

NOTE: For Indy I do a "Pole" contest with a separate "Race" contest, so we'll have 18 events this year.

Season Totals After 1 of 18 Events:

1. drewdawg - 23 pts. (1 win)
2. marcostraz - 14 pts.
3. Alwaysfirst - 13 pts.
4. Daisy - 12 pts.
5. naBuru38 - 9 pts
6. NAC - 7 pts.
(tie) Yannick - 7 pts.

Contest results By Event:

Sao Paulo - drewdawg
St. Pete - ?????
Long Beach - ?????
Kansas - ?????
Indy Pole -?????
Indy Race - ?????

Solid win, drewdawg!!! Bonuses really gave you a good kick, and your speed choices were very good...gave you the points you needed.

To all others:

It is a LONG season...everyone will have ups and downs...be glad that drew's total was the first race, because there are lots of events where you can pick up points...You're still in it...

I had people who were down by 20-30 points in past contests early who got hot mid-late season and challenged for the win!

Keep Playing!

I'll post St. Pete at the end of this week.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the next one.

Good Luck next time, and congrats to all...This is for fun!

Well done drew! I'm not that unhappy with my score, not bad after being out for a year.
