GTL - I Don't Suppose Anyone Else is Still Running This?
I found my old disk for this - it sits around as some things (for rFactor?) need to have it in the tray for some reason that I've completely forgotten.
Downloaded a few mods and cars. It's still quite fun and the cup competition is fun to play as well. It was fun researching on the net as to how to get it to run on W7 though! |

Why on earth would you still play it when you cn just drop the Historix mod into Rfactor, better sounds, improved physics and more cars!
You need the old disk to install it, but after that just download it and you are away! Much better, cant believe Simbin are trying to charge 7 quid for all these old games on Steam!! |

I just had it lying around and thought I'd try it.... You know how old-fashioned I am by now!

Getting a new laptop soon, and I spotted a Logitech DFGT for £30 in town, so I'll be no doubt revisiting all these older sims soon

Got the game on disk but it was a bit scratched up; quick Steam install later and I'm sliding a Cortina around Zolder like it was 2003! Lovely.

Looks promising. I want to love it but for me Rfactor 2 is a bit of a disappointment so far. Most of the historic single seaters are 'generic' and there are only 3 historic tracks. Maybe the tyre modelling is a big step forward but the jury is out. I'm not a great fan of the Beta release business - does it really encourage user feedback or is it an excuse for slow development?
It does remind us all how good GPL was more than a decade ago... Rfactor 2 doesn't feel 14 years better than GPL that's for sure. |

RF2 is pretty well finished and to repeat myself for the millionth time, if you bought it early, you dont have to buy it again!
So you are not really paying for anything other than the opportunity to offer your words or comments to the devs, who in comparison to PCARS and a few others are actually very helpful. Their team is very small, but they do good work, it might not look as pretty as some other new sims, but physics wise only Iracing compares, and even then some IR cars are notorisouly badly designed physics wise, Spec Racer Ford being one. Only issue with RF2 so far is no one plays it! Probably because of the same prejudices mentioned here. And I am no fan boy believe me. |

I'm not prejudiced, I'm just not prepared to pay for something that isn't finished yet. I'll buy it when it's perfected - if I read enough to satisfy me it's worth the outlay.

Bought GTL on Steam. Already downloaded some of my favourite tracks from when I had GPL on my old laptop. Bloody good fun and runs well on my current laptop. Great for some casual driving
So yes, major bump, but I am still running GTL! |

Any scope for a friendly Thursday night GTL league/casual race?
Cars that come with game + older style circuits (Mosport 67, etc..) |
