Michael Andretti Update And this is how the IRL works: We have been told by a very reliable source that Michael Andretti is being offered 10 million dollars by Tony George and Honda. Honda is so desperate for teams at the moment, as they have ZERO teams signed. We shall soon see if Michael gives in. |

So I've heard.
The loss might be balanced out by the rumour that Barry Green has bought PacWest in an effort to stay out of the IRL by distancing himself with Brown&Williamson. |

That's why rumours are fun! (When they're not about you).
But I find the BGreen one more believable. It's hard to imagine that he could just throw in the towel and walk away from the sport he loves. |

Hmmm, that's kinda weird, why sell your well-seasoned team and then buy a brand new team? I guess Barry likes the challenge? Either that or he made a killing on his own team and can buy PWR for dirt cheap and hope to turn the team around? Interesting...rumors are indeed very cool when they (a) don't involve you and b) when it later turns out to be true!)

What I've heard...
Barry Green wants absolutely no part of the IRL. Whatsoever. And with KOOL, he was faced with the very real possibility of being forced to race there. I guess he doesn't like being told what to do, so he got out of the frying pan before it got too hot. And it's obvious that he sold his team for a helluva lot more money than it would cost to purchase PWR. I hope it's true. I greatly admire Barry Green, and he has been one of the best owners the sport has ever seen. |
