No Pepsi in Canberra
Although left out of the offical entry list for the Stegbar 400, we were hopeful of still gaining entry in exchange for not going to Darwin and Barbagallo as per a deal done at a TEGA meeting a few weeks ago.
After not getting a fair hearing regarding pre-qualifying and taking the matter to court, it was only when a number of Level One teams became affected and the threat to replace the TEGA Board became real that the situation was rectified. Now AVESCO are refusing our entry on a technicality. They really know how to kill a sponsor. Now in the best conspiracy theory tradition consider this; 1) We have traditionally finished race weekends in the top 25 therefore the extra points we stood to gain in Canberra (points are weighted as a mini enduro) would have pull us off the bottom of the heap after a horror run due to pre-qualifying 2) The technicality is one that they chose not to enforce on HRT and Perkins for Darwin 3) The K-Mart Team happen to be trying to 'steal' our major sponsor. Witness the signage on the front guards for which they did not receive permission or money for After spending approx $65k leading up to this weekend to improve the car it is *&^%$#@ frustrating to miss out! |

Avesco really need to have a look at how they are looking after sponsors who are WILLING to put money into the sport. It just smacks of arrogance.

What a sham,
I wish you guys the best of luck getting to canberra. I for one will be cheering you on in the race if you get in.. Last year I put a hex on Ambrose after he did not sign my program (Mr McDougall signed it - nice bloke) so I put a hex on Ambrose which resulted in his poor weekend. I shall do the same to Kmart. As for Kmart running Pepsi signage. Their sponsor AC's cola would not be happy about that one. |

Champ69 - AC Cola was part of K-Mart's involvement I believe and are no longer a sponsor and thus their drive for Pepsi

Saturday I have to put up a fence at home so will be absent. Any news Pepsi on your teams attendance? |

Champ69 - no go I'm afraid and we had already agreed to not go to WA as it can not stretch past 32 entries (Larry has done likewise)

Sevi - We were never going to WA as part of our agreement with the other teams to help with grid numbers. Larry and Mike Imrie had done likewise due to the track density of only 32.
Meanwhile we are carrying out test days (only 1 so far due to weather and track availability), installing centre lock wheels and new spec gearbox and having the engine freshened in time for Oran Park. |

Mr Squiggle - I can only say that it relates to the submission of tyre orders and payment
I must tell you that I have always liked your quote from Frank Matich (legend he is) Last edited by PEPSI; 13 Jun 2002 at 00:50. |
